thank you. I misread and thought you'd managed to cram those tyres and mudguards in a Kona PW and I hadn't seen that done before. clearances do look much better on the day one.
@Nef fair enough. dangers of building a nice bike! I think the guards on the brother would keep the worst of winter at bay, and using it might be better than building two bikes that are so similar. good luck in your search!

Annoyingly, I just typed out a long CP post, which seems to have disappeared. But I’m still trying to figure out which direction to take this in.
I’m a bit split. The prospect of my hilly 11 mile commute in foul weather on a fixed gear is a bit grim - it’s hard enough in nice weather.
But I could probably also do with a winter friendly bike, and a geared bike is probably a bit handier and versatile.There’s things like the Genesis day one Alfine which is somewhere in the middle.
