it is a supernova adaptor might be too short in your case though...

I have both those brackets already and pretty sure both will fit - the hole is towards the front of the fork. My only worry is it working loose and slipping into the front wheel. But maybe with sufficient loctite it will be fine.

Your normal fitting at the front of forks also doesn't just fall off?
Think quite a few people hve their lights mounted to the underside and are still riding. -
• #4530
The standard one right through the middle of the forks seems a lot less likely to work loose than one mounted just to an M5 screw running vertically. The load on a mudguard that would go there would be distributed a lot more widely.
I just know I start with the best intentions of checking things haven't worked loose and then tend to forget.
(already broken one of the rivnut fork cage mounts due to being lazy about checking tightness) -

You're probably right as you don't have a nut on the other side, but I would guess some of the carbon fork front hol s also don't go all the way?
And yes, the checking if stuff is alright mostly happens when nothing is loose. -

A decent lock washer, a clean bolt, some Loctite and 4-5Nm of torque should do you right.
-
• #4533
That's the kind of encouragement I need. What sort of lock washer do you reckon? I'm always a bit lost with which washer for which situation.
-
• #4534
I would personally go for a star type rather than split ring for this kind of application.

Cheers
I'll probably (seeing as I'm about to do badger divide on it with minimal test ride time beforehand) add some sort of emergency retaining strap around the fork as well just so if anything does wrong it won't be as disastrous. -

What could go wrong...
(luckily am friends with a good dentist)

Shouldn't you turn the support upside down at least? Because here two screws threaten you of disaster, while upside down only the screw in the fork is at risk.

Anyone try these? Look pretty up-scale with that alli body for £12 (plus probably another 10 for whatever costs are hidden)

Have one of those, bright enough, beam not incredible. Can't say how much I used as I changed stuff around, it but got wet more than once and still works.
I bought a set with rear light and that has been on a bike that lives outside for 2+ years and still works. -
• #4540
ah sounds good! just ordered the silver one... Do they have an on/off switch?
-
• #4541
I'm pretty confident the horizontal one won't come undone. That said it would have looked neater if it had ocurred to me do this... however it's now been soaked in so much loctite I can't face undoing it.
-
• #4542
ah ah! yes don't touch!
Just curious, did you put medium or hard loctite? If hard, do you think you can unscrew without screwing the insert that is itself glued in the fork? -
• #4543
medium... though there is still a risk of it unscrewing the insert based on what happened with the fork cage mount when I failed to keep checking it.
am going to add safety cord just in case.

Mine does have a nice clicky switch on the back.

Just saw your message! Yes that would be my worry, and knowing they use Rivnuts, hole is just getting bigger. Steel/Alu/Titanium are safer on this front for Bikepacking.

Coincidentally just on the train to Scotland with it... So let's hope it holds. I added an emergency bit of elastic and poured some superglue into the join between frame and mount. It'll probably be fine... Plus am not really going to be riding at night on this trip so it's not end of the world if it fails.
Unless it causes front wheel to lock up on a steep downhill of course... Will keep an eye on it.
All my other bikes are steel but for various reasons the plastic one is by far the best one for this trip.
