  • I need a practice amp for home, doesn't need to be very loud at all but it would be nice if it didn't sound shit... I'm also happy to just have a nice clean tone.

I'm happy to have something solid state/ digital and also would like it to be cheap.

Boss Katana Mini? (seems to be the best choice still to be honest)
Boss Katana 50 (physically a bit big but they're only €150 on local adverts...)?
Yamaha THR (which one do I get, there seems to be a lot of options...)?
Positive Grid Spark (a bit spendy...)?
    Orange Crush 12?
    Blackstar Debut 15E?
    Vox Pathfinder 10?

    Am I missing something? Thoughts?

  • I’ve got a Nux headphone amp if you wanted something super cheap giving you a chance to find a desktop bargain elsewhere. £35 posted. Still have the box etc.

  • Was in the same conundrum- I plumped for the orange terror stamp - which has a cab sim out for headphones. It’s a valve amp in pedal form. The cab sim is not great (noisy) but it sounded really good on the main speaker out through a 2x12 in the shop. Being orange it’s quite hot but can be cleaned up and apparently there is a gain dial inside you can tweak (also change tube) maybe worth a look.

  • Boss Katana / Spark / Yamaha should all do a nice clean tone.

I've used all three and sold all kept spark.

Will probably get the tiny one next.
