I couldn’t wait, opened the 2021 today, it’s a lovely big mouthful, less malty with a hint of chocolate, another winner.

Sure it’s been said on this thread before, but it is hard to beat a spot of Maredsous

Mate bought me a jazzy stout.
Imperial oat stout with coffee at a rather punchy 11.5%
Strong body, not much coffee upfront, but is there in the aftertaste. A bit licorice (as many strong stouts tend to be, but not overwhelming) usual chocolate notes too.
Nice enough and a kind gift, but I won't be seeking another in a hurry.

When in Suffolk…
Both superb, as expected. Looking forward to getting to the tap room tomorrow and getting a bunch of this and plenty more.

I spent the evening in the Põhjala brewery tap.
Öö X (13.0% Special Öö for its 10th anniversary, aged in Cognac barrels) was an excellent way to finish things off.

New Cross House looks to have been taken over by Greene King who are refurbing at the moment to reopen next month. Seems quite random.

Day trip to Leigh on sea and found a bottle shop.
Always happy to help an independent, so lightened both, their shelves and my wallet.Polly's is a Welsh whisky sherry cask aged stout
Bottle is a vanilla imperial pulled from behind the counter (and was caveated as "costs more than £10")
Lerwig nitro stout (sold to me as "a good standard beer")
Ludicrous sour (too many flavours to name)
White Stout (can drew in the wife, the style intrigued me)
Cider (for the missus)

Yonder Freak Shake
This is rather complex, starts sweet, has lactose so is a little thick, turns almost angel delight-esque before the sour kicks in.
Overall, it's a win for me.

Normally find >10% stouts a bit much, but this was very nice. Very after eight, in a good way.

Found this in Sainsbury's.
It's great, very smokey.
Shame they only had 3 bottles (I got 2)

Love that this is in the Tesco 4 for the price of 3 deal. I bought it expecting it to be nasty but it's actually delicious.

Today I have been shocked by a Sainsbury's TTD Chocolate Orange stout. Xmas beer of the year already.

There's a new bar at the Tate Modern called the Corner Bar. Around 20 taps, great range from Burnt Mill, Drop Project, Burning Sky and Verdant. They did do burning sky flights from 750 bottles but are out of stock of the bottles at the moment.

Little session lined up for this evening. Just had a pint of Anspach & Hobnob London Black in the pub. Nice but pricey.

Been enjoying the stuff from Baron brewing lately (a new-ish local Cambridgeshire brewer)

I picked this one up when passing by their HQ a few weekends ago. It’s thick, heavy and malty, easy to sip and doesn’t taste like a 10% beer. 10/10. I got one of their 2021’s too, put away for another day.
