Are "clipons" the same as bar end shifters?

Gets himself a custom bike, then flips the bars up to have positive drop. Some people is beyond saving
-
• #1404
No, I mean tri bars/aerobars/extensions. Not sure why they have so many names

Why has no one mentioned the seat post.

Velo Orange Nouveau with TRP RRL, tricky combo. Potential HD?
Seems comfy as is though, drops still useable and comfortably.
So used to flat transition, have to get used to the wrist 'pocket'.

I say if it feels good then just leave it.
I've also moved the hoods even further up to what looks like the same position as yours, I feel like it looks a bit dorky compared to flat transition but its undeniably more comfortable. -

Sorry but...

I've just looked at my own bike and realised that it's best not to throw stones in glass houses.

any bdhuers running ritchey neo classic bars?
I fitted a set at the weekend and had to mount the levers (105 5800) way above the marking points on the bends to get the levers in an upward position, which leads to the lever blades being angled outwards quite a bit.
I'll grab some pics later. -

Yes I have this issue. It is actually annoying me so much I am looking into designing my own bars

designing my own bars
too soon for a list?
Reason for the bar change was that i'd been getting numb hands for a while now.
Despite how the ritcheys look, there was a marked improvement in comfort on my 20k commute shakedown this morning over my previous 3t ergonova pro bar setup.
however i did also do the classic move of adjusting the saddle forward and fitting new pedals at the same time as changing the bars so it might not have been the fault of the old bars at all... -

I can't find the photos now but what I did was to bend the bars to get the desired flare to allow the levers to sit better. The top of the bars to the hoods concave section is still not ideal but better.
You can make all the lists you want but it is a very slow process of me drawing the bars, finding the required finances and then Taiwan making me the bars.

Is the reach adjustable?

sorry, should have put a winky face on my list comment ;)
i'm not sure how confident i'd be to bend a set of alu bars
-
• #1420
reach is adjustable, but the reach isn't really a problem, it's more the flare of the levers that's a bit weird.
-
• #1421
same thing with sram
while i'm not a fan of the levers flaring out either i could live with it, however i also have the problem that they're twisted so much that the bump of the exiting gear cable/hard plastic edge of the lever sits too high and starts to dig into the heel of my hand with certain hand positionson paper they should be great, not sure why they're like this... if you search around for pictures of them most people seem to have the bar ends pointing at their rear hub, exactly the kind of bar angle that gets posted in this thread...

• #1422
That's only a problem if you have a very flat transition and levers very straight. Optimal position with most handlebars there will be a small dip IMO
-
• #1423
I agree about the dip, it doesn't seem to be possible tho without either the hoods pointing down↘️ or the bottom of the drops pointing up↗️
I need to get new bars

Yeah it's not work is it
He just needs to ride it a bit and find out what his bar choices are. Many of us have dropped bars thrust upon us because of the trade's adherence to the TdF look. I've recently flipped my bars, cut off the drops and added tt clipons. I should have done it forty years ago. Why doesn't anyone tell us how comfy and efficient tt clipons are? I always thought they were strictly for tts and triathlons.
