  • The 560 you paid in 2018 was not allowing them to be a functioning company.

If you want a similar frame for ~560 you can get a steamroller, but as you have already mentioned they aren’t the same quality so you should not be surprised (or upset) that the price is different.

  • It was functional. They didn’t go bankrupt, they just lost staff to retirement irrc. Woodrup saw value in the name and now need a return on investment. @BobJackson correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Ultimately the frames as they were priced barely covered the costs of materials - tubing, lugs, brass, gas, enamelling - there was nothing left to cover labour costs or other business costs.

Following the sale of the building the business became unsustainable. The frames had become pigeon holed at a price point and there wasn't an easy way out.

We're certainly not looking at a "return on investment", we bought the name to rescue it from a similar fate Holdsworth suffered.

We're focused on keeping the name going, building quality frames here in Leeds. Realistically the prices are fairly benchmarked against similar UK operations, and significantly cheaper than some other builders. Operating at a loss isn't an option.

All the orders we've taken so far are full custom.

The posts of understanding and support are greatly appreciated, we'll keep you posted on progress.
