Thanks -
I really hope this works for Woodrup and the BJ name, but it feels expensive. You can get full custom from Mercian, Winston Vaz etc for that sort of money. The USP of Bob Jackson was that it wasn’t full custom, but still handmade in this country. -

The USP of Bob Jackson was...
That it was underpriced.
Is full custom from Mercian et al still a grand a half or was it a grand and a half pre cozzy lives/Brexit?

“cozzy lives”?
Yes, those are the sort of prices Mercian have on their website, so I’m assuming up to date. You can pay more of course.
I get it that BJ was underpriced. I’m just saying that some price difference based on standardisation would, well, differentiate

Cozzy lives == cost of living

Good morning, it's 'cozzy livs'

It's not really our place to comment on other builders.
Sadly our frames priced as they were previously were simply unsustainable - with the relaunch we want to deliver quality frames, built right.
We don't expect to please everyone, but will do our best to deliver great results for any customers going forwards.

With the relaunch it would be great to share some more classic Bob Jackson builds via our social media, if any forumers have photos they're happy to share with the wider world of Bob Jackson enthusiasts, submissions are very much welcome.

Don't suppose you've got any Fleur de Lis lug porn work in progress by any chance do you?
-
• #287
Can't argue with that.
I would love an audax end-to-end

Just finished building this up. Having taken it for a shake down ride yesterday I can’t really imagine asking for any more from a bike.

Ha, super funky, custom geo?

Tall but racy no? You could make it more compact with a sloping TT or just lower the TT and have a big stack or extended head tube, but the way it is seems the most preferable option to me. I'm not a frame builder or anything though, so god knows.

No don’t think so? Just a standard 25inch Bob Jackson end to end from what I can tell (60cm top tube, 200mm head tube, 73 ha & sa)
-
• #292
I was only going as far as shorter tt to st,, but they did/and do [second hand?!] come up with sloping tt /differing tubings, anyway does look a great ride

When the Fleur de Lis has its own little colour on the finish...
Keep doing what you think best. lovely stuff.

Ah well not sure then! it's 60cm top tube c-c and 62cm seat tube c-c which i think is normal. Doesn't feel cramped at all and similar sort of reach to a 61/62 in one of the big brands i think (~410mm)

Just fitted new Dia-Compe mudguards to my Vigorelli and while it was on the stand I took the opportunity to install a new chain. This is my commuting mode, with coffee flask and Carradice Barley.

You mention Surly, Brother, Crust and Thorn.
To me Bob Jackson is separate from all of those.
Got to agree 100%. I had a Surly Steamroller for several years, which was a really good ride. Replacing it with a Vigorelli was a step up in class. Plus lots of custom option in the build of the frame.

We’ll be offering a Vigorelli, an End to End / Audax, and an Olympus in set sizes from 50cm to 62cm. We’ll be building in 725 as a default, this offers significant improvements over 631 at a relatively small price difference. 853 will be an optional upgrade.
We are putting together a frame shop team and production will be headed up by Steve Woodrup, these frames will be hand built in Leeds where Bob Jackson belongs.
Audax/End-End in Reynolds 725 with standard lugs and all appropriate eyelets - £1585.
Vigorelli (singlespeed/fixed) in 725 with standard lugs will - £1550
Olympus (road racing) in 725 with standard lugs - £1585
Each of these frames can be upgraded to Reynolds 853 for £150I respectfully disagree that this is a relatively small price difference. I bought a 631 Vigorelli in 2018 for £560, which included several custom options. £1550 is near treble the cost!

More than a few thing and doubled in 12months

The 560 you paid in 2018 was not allowing them to be a functioning company.
If you want a similar frame for ~560 you can get a steamroller, but as you have already mentioned they aren’t the same quality so you should not be surprised (or upset) that the price is different.

Good point and agree with +jmg412
I count myself lucky to have bagged that frame before they folded (and then resurrected).
The Steamroller is still a really good frame. I'd happily ride one again.
Have you got a list of models and prices?
