• Back from 7 straight days riding out of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Tough week, heatwave had the Garmin reading 40+ degree C in the sun, even above 1,000m. First time I've not needed layers on the Cols and a balmy 28 degrees C on the top of Iseran.

A pleasant suprise was the relatively new cycle lanes and tunnels following the Isère river through the valley and connecting up the rides. From Bourg it was possible to tick off..

  • Nice pictures and looks like you've done every climb nearby.. I stayed a night in Bourg Saint Maurice when I did the Grand Tour des Alpes a couple of weeks ago..Good memories.. I think i cycled on the same cycle path towards the Iseran but I didn't realized there are new tunnels as well..

  • We got lucky and someone local informed us about newish sections, including the dedicated cycle tunnel. For the benefit of anyone heading that way..

From the East you have the tunnel that starts near the base of Notre-Dame-du-Pré that then follows the valley for ~20 miles before joining onto the main road heading toward the Iseran.
