Probably on Monday. I've got to get across town anyway and thought it'd be a good excuse to have a go on one!

I did a few years ago. Hired one for 24 hours to try out on some local hills and getting on and off trains that were part of my commute. It was all very easy.

In the end we rented a trailer for the kids, probably the last summer we can do this, they'll be too heavy in 6/8 month from now I reckon... We parked the car and didn't touch it for a week, did everything with the Bromptons and trailer... It was a good holiday!

I had to pop into John Lewis today to pick something up for the MiL so rode the folder the 8 miles in. I folded it up outside and carried on inside. I was stopped by a ‘partner’ so immediately thought FFS!, but no they asked if I wanted them to put it behind one of the tills, whichever I wanted to save me carrying it around. I explained I was just going to the collections desk and I was fine. That was also just fine with them. So much easier than locking up and wondering if you bike will still be there on your return.

Clearly JL know their audience.
Lovely to hear.
But you have just scored two points on middle class bingo. -

Anybody got any spare mid rise bars they’d like to sell to me?

Does the Brompton Hive mind have any thoughts or experiences with the electric P and C lines?
Is it worth upgrading to a P or does the increased weight of the motor make it slightly meaningless? -
• #14211
Don’t buy an electric Brompton would be my take.
The weight difference is noticeable though and the P-line overall just feels a bit nicer

Anyone want H&H crankset? Asking for £80.

I've had an electric for a few years. They are considerably heavier. It's possible to lug it about shops etc. but not fun. The motor will overcome the weight difference when you are cycling. The small weight difference between P&C when you're carrying it might make a difference but you won't know until you start carrying it in different situations.
I've really enjoyed it, they seem to have ironed out early problems with the battery connector and motor bearings. I have a normal one as well which I enjoy but the electric one allows me to carry 25+kgs of tools and materials around London and still do 8hrs work. It's a good replacement for a moped in that situation.

“ Style is the answer to everything
A fresh way to approach a
Dull or dangerous thing
To do a dull thing with style is preferable
To doing a dangerous thing without it
To do a dangerous thing with style
Is what I call art
Bullfighting can be an art
Boxing can be an art, Loving can be an art
Opening a can of sardines can be an art
Not many have style not many can keep style
I have seen dogs with more style than men
Although not many dogs have style
Cats have it with abundance
When Hemingway put his brains to
The wall with a shotgun, That was style
Or sometimes people give you style
Joan of Arc had style, John the Baptist
Christ, Socrates
Caesar, García Lorca
I have met men in jail with style
I have met more men in jail with
Style than men out of jail
Style is the difference, a way of doing
A way of being done
Six herons standing quietly in
A pool of water
Or you walking out of the bathroom, naked
Without seeing me… “ Charles Bukowski talking about my Brompton in this instance

I sacked my electric c line urban off and bought a P line (non electric).
I think electric p lines's defeating the object a bit! -

So is this Bear Grylls nonsense just an orange and olive bike with matching backpack that you can’t open without taking it off the bike?

I’ve got the cream foldable Conti Urbans on my bike - well, I’ve got one as a misaligned brake pad rubbed through the other - so I need a new one.
I’m wondering if anyone has ridden the folding and wired versions back to back? I’m not fussed about weight or the cream sidewalls, more grip and comfort, so is there a difference?
Thanks

Partridge crossover?
-
• #14221
Same difference.
Got to be careful with them as the sidewall doesn't take much to wreck -
• #14222
Literally not noticeable

Accurate.

Just spotted on Facebook, how to make your bike look pengy in two easy steps.
I really hope he didn’t ride it like this!

Are folding tyres easier to change or make it easier to fix a puncture? Or is it just folding to make it easier to carry a spare tyre? Genuinely curious as I am thinking of getting a pair and the price difference is significant
