• Worth adding that the hackintosh community has some very capable, experienced people in it.

    It's entirely possible that in time someone will find a way to get around the chip issue.

    Apple have tried to stop people hackintoshing before (see Dont_Steal_Mac_OS_X.kext) and that didn't work. Changing the silicon is obviously more drastic, but kernels can be patched and decompiled. Never say never...

  • I'm not against people doing it. Personally I don't have a problem with the price of a Mac given the time my previous ones have lasted. It wouldn't appeal to me to take on the technical challenges but I'm happy there are some people out there who have the time and energy to dedicate to it.
