Camera came back to me, seller stuck it in a bag with a thin bit of bubble wrap. It’s damaged after me sending it in a box.
Kicked off at eBay and they refunded me.
Then last night had someone offer me money on an item, I accept and an hour later get the buyer asking to cancel.
Buyer at 500 feedback so not fresh. EBay just seems to be full of time wasting cunts now

Can you get ebay to email you before a Watched item auction ends? I see it alerts on the website but I see no option for getting emails.
EDIT: Everything is checked under Communication Preferences > Buying activity

eBay notifications are flakey ime. I just put it in my phone calendar if it's something I really want
-
• #2630
Yeah, thinking about it, I used to get emails and I've not changed anything so I guess they're just a bit shit.

Notifications seem very sporadic to me, sometimes I get them, other times nothing.

Yep, mine disappeared at random and most seem to have started back up after unticking and ticking everything but they aren't consistent enough to rely on.
I moved on to using Gixen for bids as it means I don't have to remember when things end and I can bid on multiple items and have it stop bidding on the others after I win an item.

I bought something on eBay, the seller shipped it with Yodel and they left it on the doorstep where it was stolen. The seller has an "item delivered" email, although the picture is of the package just sat on my doorstep, door closed. Just got told by eBay that I won't be getting a refund and that I need to take it up with Yodel - they gave me a link to contact them on, which doesn't work. Do I have any recourse? Whole thing has really annoyed me.

Is the yodel contract with the seller?

Yep

I've got an odd one. I use ebay very little and logged in to my account (let's call it account A) yesterday. I was puzzled that there was no history of purchases but they only go back to 2021. I changed my password and did 2FA. Got an email saying We wanted to let you know that your eBay account has been secured because your login information may have been used without your permission. So changed it again. Also one saying a new device was being used in Dalston, Cumbria. I live quite near Dalston, London.
Anyway I figured all was good, no suspicious activity, all security up to date. Then I thought to search my emails for ebay transactions. The last one on account A was March 2020. But in Janury 21 I bought some puncture patches (got to be TipTop). Now that time the email said 'How exciting your first purchase is confirmed'. Which suggests I'd set up a new account (account B) - but with the same email address as account A. I don't remember doing.
The only difference is that for account A the emails come from ebay.co.uk and for B they come from ebay.com.
I can log in to account A but have no way of figuring out what account B is. I'm not worried about fraud, there's been nothing suspicious as far as I can tell. Any ideas before I brave the ebay customer services? Thanks for reading.
Oh and emails for A now say a new device is being used in the City of London. All the times match up so it's definitely me they are referring to. -

I think it's possible to set up separate accounts on .com and .co.uk. I sometimes start a purchase on .com and realise when it prompts me to log in.

Thanks, I'm sure this is me getting myself in to this rather than someone who loves TipTop patches as much as I do going to great lengths.
Doesn't help the paranoia when they start going on about Cumbria. -

I won a frame on eBay about 3 weeks ago, but the seller is unable to post/deliver it for the time being (for legitimate reasons). I'm not in any rush so that doesn't bother me.
But what will happen to the eBay transaction if the seller doesn't mark it as posted for another month? Will eBay auto-cancel it at some point if neither me nor the seller do anything?

I'm pretty sure it'll just sit there in limbo.
I bought a bike a couple of months back, collected and paid cash. the seller didn't mark it as collected for a good few weeks until I gave them a nudge. -
• #2641
I’ve still got a bike I bought in Feb marked as due for collection as the guy I bought it off never marked it as having been collected.

Thanks guys, will just wait and see what happens then...

Just sold an old-school Game Boy which the seller claimed didn't work when it arrived. Returned it, and it's switched on and plays absolutely fine, just as it did when I sent it. What a waste of time and resources.
Like, I've got it back, I can sell it again, fine, but I've lost the postage cost at least, and a week of my time while the buyer returned it. I don't think there's much I can do, just wanted to vent. -

Happened to me with a watch I sold. I left plenty of passive-agressive messages with the buyer. Didn't help, made me feel better.
Folks on here have had success with complaining to eBay and eBay refunding the postage and fees. Try it. I should.

It might be that the cartridge the buyer was trying to use was super old? I believe they contain a tiny coin battery, which last approx. 10-15 years.

Surely you can just turn it on and get the redacted nintendo logo and the legendary start-up tone, though.

I don't know - the only games I had to test it with were Tetris and Super Mario Land, which both started up and began playing absolutely fine. But the buyer claimed only Mario worked, which was immediately disproven since Tetris also worked fine.

I once sold a vintage tape deck on eBay that I had video of it working as part of the listing, and eBay still sided with the seller. I'm still angry about it to this day.

Although not ebay, thought Id ask it here. Its not the first time im advertising something on FB marketplace, but its the first time I experienced this. I put up a TT disc wheel, and within a few hours 4 profiles contacted me.
3 profiles of middle aged central european women with no cycling/tri related content on their profile, seemingly no friends/contacts from the UK. 1 profile of younger woman with 2 total pics, and profile is a "digital creator" page with followers instead of friends.
All are asking for in-person pickup, then say it'll be their brother/sister coming to pickup, and they are asking paypal/bank details and to mark the item sold.
Im about 99% sure that its a scam, but whats the scam?
Oh and im happy to be wasting their time, its a moody saturday afternoon.

At the door, they will Probably show you a fake screen grab of a banking app to prove they’ve ‘sent’ the payment.
Ask for actual cash. They will go quiet.
