He really was. First time I met him he pretended to kick off at me because I was watching his little dog Wilma hump her bed. Accused me of being a dog voyeur in a room full of strangers. But not in an arsehole way, in a beautifully funny and gentle way. There are very few people who can pull that off and he did it effortlessly with his every waking breath.
