How do I bathroom / kitchen / extension? etc.

i bought some solar film after a recco on here for our conservatory but i have yet to summon the will power to do the job.

we had roof blinds fitted which have made a big difference: instead of hitting 60 degrees C, it now only gets to 40ish on a clear hot day. it still creates a weird pocket of warm air that you have to walk through when going up stairs

Would you mind sharing which model of film you have?

Fitting film will be a bastard which nobody will want to do. Suspect most folks get the proper glass for the context.

But note - picking the right glass product becomes really important; the control element can be external and it can get fucked by other building materials / cleaning products. You need something hardy.

I’m going to put it in the outside even though it’ll get fucked, hoping to rip it down in 3-5 years and build a proper workshop

It’s one way film though. Putting it on the outside would stop heat getting out.

Double check but pretty certain it’s designed to be fitted internally.

If it helps, I’ve installed in (and I think provided the recommendation) on most of the windows in my house and my parents glass conservatory roof and it’s not as difficult as you think.

That’s good to hear. If i manage it ok I might extend the treatment to other rooms, our house is stupidly hot. Never had double glazing before

Definitely noticeable heat difference. Also stops discolouration of materials due to UV.

Genuinely, the one linked up thread has no appreciable difference in light coming through to my eye.

Builders are off to their other job and here concludes work for another week. 5 weeks now. Back on bank holiday Monday it seems.
They seem to have underestimated the ammount of work here. I've had to do 3 ikea runs in the last few days for extra panels as their execution has deviated from the design. Have had to delay the templating for bench tops.
Hold on for the ride. Their lack of sequencing sometimes holds up progress. Ie, failed to show up with some bits which, if they'd ordered a few days ago, would have meant they'd be able to achieve a lot more. Still, will hopefully be lovely when done (46sqft).

Cork tiles! Are they a joke or actually ok?

We have tile floors on top of cast concrete slab, so insulation is bad and noise travels. I'd like a flooring that's warmer under food and absorbs noise. But we have a dog and asthma so carpets a no go

Indeed it is. The smallest they make at 700mm (Cormatin). I saw a much larger model in a local kitchen design studio in the window a few years ago and absolutely fell in love. I've saved hard over the last few years and got just enough together to make it work. Total extravagance but no other range came close once I'd fallen in love.
Took 7 months to arrive after ordering. Process was like ordering a custom bike from a builder with indifferent comms.

When we first started looking for ranges a new, baby blue induction one popped up on ebay for £2k and I thought that's a ridiculous amount to pay for a cooker so didn't buy it. regretted that since.
The custom range builder on their website is quite fun to play with. I think we came up with one at £30k in hot pink, 2m long. Very interested to hear a review of yours.

How do I wardrobe?

OH isn’t happy with current setup created by yours truly. We’ve got zero storage in our whole flat so stuff every where. She wants built in wardrobes in this space so we can hide a load of other junk in there.

I’m absolutely shocked at the cost of fitted wardrobes. I had no idea.

Is PAX a real solution, bearing in mind I’ve got zero skills is it just gonna look shit?

Is there an option in between PAX and 10k custom which require me to do very little? I have zero appetite for this project or expense.

We did cork planks from colourflooring in our kitchen and I love it. It's exactly that: warm and quiet.

A curtain in front is an in-between solution but it sounds like that won't wash.

Look at something like Fittingly, I'd be very surprised if that came out at £10k based on some of the projects I've seen on here. You could save yourself a few quid if you find a way to use the drawers you currently have inside cupboards.

Just putting sliding doors in front of what you have there would be a start.

Cork is completely the right choice for so many projects but it really triggers some people.

It's warm and soft, eco friendly, paintable, relatively cheap compared to other options, easy to fit.

TBH I think that looks great and I am very jelly of that much space. I have two shitty victorian built in's that are not even done well.

What Airhead said basically, or custom self build. Another wild card is PAX + carpenter to make them look built in.
