Salad cut up into cubes with mozzarella, a decent sourdough cut up, basil, red onion, tonnes of olive oil and salt. Even better the next day

I really enjoy this recipe for using lots of fresh tomatoes.

#GolfClubBar; any thoughts or recommendations for a ~£10 gift from Venice to get for a foodie (or Italy more generally).
Edit: to answer my own question and in case anyone else looks for something;
This place seemed very good. Reasonable prices and a great range of dried stuff and oils etc, and a couple of different fresh pastas as well (not very useful as gifts, but seems indicative of a quality establishment).

Chilli con carne with fresh toms instead of tinned. You need to put a cross in the bottom, let them simmer in boiling water for a bit then peel and roughly chop.

I have a recipe for a tomato risotto that involves making a tomato stock out of many peeled and deseeded tomatoes.
I made it once a long time ago. Took fucking ages.
The resulting risotto had the precise flavour of Heinz tomato soup, in rice form. Quite delicious, but a bit disconcerting.
As a culinary experience it has stuck with me for a long time. Take from that what you will.
I'll post a pic of the recipe if anyone wants it.

Meera Sodha has a good rasam recipe which uses either four or six large fresh tomatoes (it's the one in Fresh India called Temple Tomato Rasam, not the pumpkin or red cabbage ones online). It's really easy to make and quite light.
I can't find that recipe online and I'm not at home, but Swasthi's Recipes are usually very good.

Any good dry pasta and vacuum packed cheese and/or cured meat will survive the trip nicely and make a nice gift

Anyone got any recommendations for bulk (5l-ish) extra virgin olive oil, preferably in a recyclable container?

I've been looking for this too. Found a Spanish place but it was quite £ by the time shipping factored in. I'll dig it out later - might be a good forum group buy as quantity did make a difference.

This stuff is great but at £10/litre there's not an obvious big bulk discount included

Olive oil has doubled in price since last year - I buy the boggo filipo Berio stuff (non-virgin, for cooking) in 5l tins, and it's gone from £25 to £50.
I can't pretend to know much about extra virgin oils, but this stuff is OK, and works out cheaper per litre than the big containers. And comes in a glass bottle.

I have a box of tomatoes from my local international shop in Barking and I’m looking for suggestions! Any ideas beyond the obvious?
