Still day one.

For each day there were three routes availble. A short one (straight out and straight back) a medium one (really nice and chill) and a long one.
On day two we originally planned to stick with the medium (100km) route but the locals told us the extra 50km of the long route are the best of the whole weekend. So we decided to start the long one, take those 50k in and then skip some km towards the end (spoiler we didn't).

With the intention to skip some km towards the end we took it all very chill and only decided very late to actually do the full 150km of the Sunday route. It was totally worth though. Such a great day out on bikes with great views, nice people, Pizza, more swimming and more Pizza when we finally rolled into the shop again late in the evening.
All in all banging weekend. Will definitely come back next year.

How you have made that inbred look so good is incredible. I keep wondering why I sold mine but the investment to get it to that was too much.
Also…mega jealous of Munich BITW. Lived there as a child. Miss Brezen and proper sausage.

Yeah that inbred is the best in the whole wide world no doubt. Kudos!

Hello folks, here are more bike things.
While all of you are distracted by the forum collab of the century ( @Hulsroy x @Maj x @Tijmen ) I sneaked in the back and grabbed the leftovers.
@Maj, bless her, made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a frameset I always wanted toownride. So a few weeks back when I was in London for work I brought my big backpack, picked up the Surly 1x1 frame set + Wheels, packed it up neatly, flew to Germany and lied to customs about it.
The 1x1 was supposed to replace the Brexit Wombat at my parents so there are some bits I moved over but there are also some new bits and ideas in the mix.
The Brexit Wombat is a lot of fun but chain tension was always a fiddly issue. Especially when I was trying to switch between two different ratios, one for off-road riding in the forest and one for getting around town. It doesn't have horizontal dropouts and the derailleur hanger is bent in a way where the chain tensioner only works with very specific chainlines.
The 1x1 with the horizontal dropouts pretty much solves that issue.
I also couldn't resist and got one of those neat Sugino White Industries cranksets which suits the bike really well. This is also where the magic happens. I am running two chainrings in the front. The calculated perfect chainline is exactly between both chainrings.
I got myself a sweet dingle speed setup that is working extremely well and thanks to the surly chaintug doesn't require a lot of work to switch between the gears. Still, most probably nothing I would do while on the go but it's easy and fast do when I know I'll be riding distance versus off-road shenanigans.

And with that massive tire clearance in the rear, I already got another very tempting offer.

I was wondering about this frame the other day!! Very lovely build, very lovely paint, very lovely selfie.
What ratios are you running, I've been thinking of doing a dingle speed set up on the Marin1x1. 36-18 is too small for getting to and from work but lovely on the trails!

The wheelset came with a 17t WI freewheel and I am running 38 and 36 in the front. Seems like a good compromise. Two teeth difference in the front is almost maxing out the adjustment in the dropouts. There is potential to get it working with 3 or 4 teeth with a halflink maybe.
I also still belive that the WI dinglespeed setup was brilliant. Two rings in the front and a double freewheel in the rear = 2 different ratios with approx same chainlength.https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/white-industries-double-double/?utm_content=cmp-true
The same can obviously be achieved with a 2x or 3x crank and two sprockets in the rear on a cassette freehub with spacers.

I know every bike is a good bike, but this 1x1 can manage to keep the same vibe of the previous one and be miles better at the same time. I wish I'd need something like that!

Haha, yes! As mentioned the idea was to replace the Brexit Wombat but in the end, I only moved over tyres, pedals, cockpit and brakes. I was about to donate and sell some bits of the Brexit Wombat but my dad was like: "Ah don't bother we got the space".
I think he really enjoyed it when we pulled all available bikes together and I took him, my mom, my sister + partner on a short loop through the local forest. So he is keen on having those bikes available for these cases. Bottom line the Brexit Wombat doesn't really need a lot of parts to become functional again. It might life again.

No one ever needs a 26 inch single speed hack bike.... But when you have one you can live without it.
Sorry for the bad photos and the bad bag as its temporary
