The wheelset came with a 17t WI freewheel and I am running 38 and 36 in the front. Seems like a good compromise. Two teeth difference in the front is almost maxing out the adjustment in the dropouts. There is potential to get it working with 3 or 4 teeth with a halflink maybe.
I also still belive that the WI dinglespeed setup was brilliant. Two rings in the front and a double freewheel in the rear = 2 different ratios with approx same chainlength.https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/white-industries-double-double/?utm_content=cmp-true
The same can obviously be achieved with a 2x or 3x crank and two sprockets in the rear on a cassette freehub with spacers.

I was wondering about this frame the other day!! Very lovely build, very lovely paint, very lovely selfie.
What ratios are you running, I've been thinking of doing a dingle speed set up on the Marin1x1. 36-18 is too small for getting to and from work but lovely on the trails!
