• a mate tried those "zeroing" cranks and after about 3 months of riding (nothing too crazy, some commutes and the occasional bridleway) , they snapped. hat another mate look at them and he thinks they are not quite hardened all the way thru and this would've happened sooner or later.

  • Hardened? What material does your mate think the cranks are made out of? My guess would be that the manufacturer didn't do proper stress analysis, or if it was a manufacturing fault then it would most likely be a sharp edge on the machining, which anodising makes weaker, leading to a stress fracture.

  • i don't think i'd buy a critical weight bearing cnc'd aluminum bike part from anyone ever.
