Progress. Much nicer lever feel. Didn't have any Campagnolo inner cables so the cable anchor/pear nipple wotnot slightly fouls the lever body, but the canti springs are more than strong enough for the lever blade to return.
The power hanger was way less fiddly to set up than I thought, but would obviously benefit from left hand braking and I had to get a bit inventive.

What a great bike! And well chronicled assembly/process. As a person of height, I daydream about stumbling upon a touring bike of "just the right size". I'd hope the result would be similar to what you've put together.
The ccampangliolio levers are much nicer to the hands than the more traditional levers you removed. Nice work.
There was a pair of cannondale panniers for sale near by recently. In great condition and same vintage as your bike. I'll try to see if they're still available.

Levers look the business! I’ll have to keep an eye out for a donor pair to do the same.

Thanks. I really only bought the frame because of it's size, but I'm super pleased with how things turned out. You're absolutely right, luggage is the next quandary.

What size is it please, and what's your inside leg?
And is that a Cane Creek eeSilk?

Look at my lovely angles
The stem being parallel to the down tube is a stroke of genius. I don't think I've ever seen it done before.

No stack and reach numbers to hand, it's 71cm C-T in old money, with about a 61cm TT. To the layman, I'm a 37in inside leg.
It is an eeSilk. It is the carbon one. It is better in all regards than I thought it would be, except on this bike my weight's abit further back creating more sag than optimal.
Stem equals downtube was pure serendipity.

dude, 10spd campag shifters will work perfectly shifting 8 spd shimano cassettes, lovely bike
-
• #36
Yes, thank you, if I'd had the shifters at the beginning of the build I likely would've tried it. But I didn't and I was desperately trying to justify the bike's existence by making it a bit different from all the other bikes I already had running 10sp Campagnolo. Things may change.

Like it. I did something similar but less creative by joining two Jandd bags with cable ties. They filled the main triangle, leaving space for a bottle cage. It got me wondering whether there's scope for having a sail there. Make your bike into a land yacht.

If any front triangle was big enough for a sail, it's probably this one.

This bike is so cool. Is this the one that was for sale on retro bike a while ago? Just curious because I considered buying that at the time these must be super rare in that size!

Thanks. Yeah, same frame. It's a lovely frame, just a shame the rear clearances aren't a tiny bit bigger.

• #43
yea I guess with an ali frame you are really stuck with what fits, crimping no option...

Scapin built Deda Zero and Dedalo steel tubing.
Any tips for not ruining the studs if I attempt surgery? Hard to fotograf, the brake pin only just catches on the outer edge of the middle hole and misses the other two completely-they've been drilled too close to the frame (The brake actually fouls the frame cos it's too close). Tempted to just drill the centre hole a tiny bit bigger. Fork and frame.

Gorgeous bike!

Afaik, the retention springs are prticularly short on some shimano v-brakes. Might be worth checking if some others do the job.
-
• #48
I'm going to offer up a couple of others if I can, but it's the hole and the pin that are misaligned, not the pin that is too short.
Bag progress. Much to do. Much pleased so far. This will all be pink in time.

This cable routing is going to take a few attempts.

Decided I can't live with the brake levers. The cable routing through the lever body is daft and kinked and the cutouts on the blades are uncomfortable. So, I scored some super cheap Chorus to gut, with the idea of refurbing another set I've got that slip gears. Or something. It has just occurred to me that they have no return spring though. Mmm.
