The cruel joke is RBKC council. The tweet is just pointing out that they agreed to this in principle but will never accept any particular implementation in practice.

They did the same with holland park Ave and pulled the plug at the eleventh hours.
Wankers. Such a critical location. -

Sorry, just realised there's a second tweet where it explains that doc is over 10 years old. Cruel joke.
Re Holland park avenue - I always ride the (mostly parallel) residential roads to the north (from shepherds Bush rbt to top of the hill). It's a bit around the houses, but probably no slower as you avoid all the traffic lights. And it's a lot more pleasant.

Looks like RBKC final gonna get some cycle lanes, bad news it's little more then advisory paint on road.
Progress but very disappointed.
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/permanent-cycle-lanes-kensington-high-street-fulham-road-chelsea-council-b1095677.htmlEdit: turns out it's an advisory lane (with a broken line rather then solid) next useless improvement, basically they have done the bare minimum despite the results of their own survey.

These now seem to be completed on HSK. Countless cars parked in the lane in the westbound direction this morning. Shock horror.

Inevitable unfortunately. Still better then nothing, but the council is still fundamentally anti cycling this is just a tick box exercise to bare minimum standard.

Almost got taken out by a taxi driver just now on c9 near Hammersmith - the turning to weltje road. He just turned right into weltje road across the bike lane without looking.

Yeah there's no sign indicating who should give way to who and those intersections in that area are all horrible.
Glad you got out with no injuries

Definitely the worst near miss I've had for years. There's a sign when you're going east west reminding people to look both directions before turning, but not when you're going west east (which this driver was doing). The bike lane is continuous, there are no markings or signs saying you need to give way to traffic turning across. If you're turning across a lane you need to check it's clear before proceeding.
I guess my mistake is assuming people will follow the rules, esp when the signage/ infrastructure is anything less than 100% clear.

Cycle tracks should be built so that those human mistakes don't cause injury or death

Pretty certain that’s the junction that Jeremy Vine (love him or hate him) had an issue a couple of months ago. I’ve certainly had my fair share of incidents there, plus Rivercourt Road to the east.
If people do wait, I try to give thanks but not always easy.
Is this a cruel joke or not?
