Oh right, no mention of niobium so maybe not. it also seems the built QC isn't there for Hunt, though hard to quantify that. nothing wrong with kinlin rims, just that Hunts are all commodity parts widely available elsewhere.
the kinlin rd-3ft rim which are on that Ryan builds wheels item, are good and wide, i have them in 650b form on hope hubs built by SBC - true after gravel and road use for almost 3 years. arkane is @broken_777. I would personally rather wheels built by a person i've been in contact with, than en-masse somewhere.
@monkdagola doing gods work 🙏
I also have the old 20Five rims w/19mm internal, GP5000s went up and sealed very easily, teravail cannonballs took a load of sealant

I guess this is the wrong time to say I have some Hope 20five wheels on rs4 thru axle to sell. Good true condition. No cracks. PM

I'm not sure if I'd want to ride this, but I'm glad it exists.

Sounds like a good option, thanks for the rec! I have had good service from Kinlin XR-31T. Malcolm Borg (also occasionally on here) built a pair for my fixed with a 16H front DA and 20H Mack rear. But fitting Schwalbe tubeless tyres nearly drove me demented.

I was considering some Hope 20Fives, but I've had two friends who've had rim failures with those.
That was a problem, Hope have rectified this in their latest wheels.

I had a day off today so took a little PartyPace™️ bimble along some of the Wherryman’s Way. There was sun, rain, mud, long grass, brambles and reeds. There were also pubs, wind pump, sugar factory, boats, paddle boarders, deer, rabbits, a raptor of some sort. There was a broken bottle in the grass, I found that without trying. It was nice to just get out and turn off.

How did you mount the rear light? P-clip around the seat tube?
-
• #28140
Looks like just the normal mount around the seat tube.
-
• #28141
Yep just the regular mount with the light pulled all the way to the rear. It’s like it was made for it. (Excuse the dirt, it was muddy on the way to work today)

Apparently 9th with a mechanical? I also appreciated his Migration/Evolution gravel race bike. For some reason they speak to me, clearly optimised for bumpy tracks 👍

All these set up’s are fun and all but it has been won 3 times on a very conventional hardtail.
This year by half an hour to second place!

This is a better gravel bike than most gravel bikes, for the way many folks use gravel bikes. Aside from utility riding, mine is my ride to trails, ride trails, ride home bike. I would be equally or more well served with a hardtail like that as long as I could use a 40+ ring as this one does. (Or a suitable double)

Converging both of the above
Hunt, Hope, Arkane, Ryan, DCR — all building proper wheels fit for purpose. Where though is Shimano? The WH-RS710 was announced over a year ago, so availability should be up to speed. But where is it? Distributor Freewheel does not even list it. Yet it is available in the EU, and at a deep discount from Bike24.de (860 EUR, 31% off MSRP).
Not deliverable here however — unless you order for delivery to Northern Ireland. It is a truly bizarre anomaly.

On sale at Sigma in some variants..

I have made an error — the Shimano wheelset I intended to refer to is the GRX series (WH-RX870) with 25mm internal-width CFRP rims. Rear wheel is available from Freewheel as @snottyotter notes, but at a much higher price than that offered by Bike24. Demand > supply it would appear.

Front is out of stock for 3 weeks or so but I can get a rear from the distributor.
I have the older Hope 20Fives RS4 with 19mm internal rims, narrow by todays standards. Mad to think my road bike has a wider internal width for smaller tyres. So it depends how big you plan to go with tyres. Also, anecdata but me and many others have struggled to get these rims setup tubeless.
I'd go best of both and get Hope hubs built onto different rims by Arkane or another builder.
