All these marins make me miss my marin bear valley SE.
But this replaced it and it rips.

Any recommendations for 26 inch rims and tires combinations?
Currently on Mavic 217 and Continental Contact folding, both need replacing. -

What are you using the bike for? Commuting/Grav/Full on MTB adventures?

i've been using kenda nevegals for about 8 years, first folding rear lasted 4 years before needing replacement, still using the same folding front today but it's getting a bit slick now. will change before winter comes.
then picked up a rear beaded tyre for 39.99 in oct 2000, been probably 50% on 50% off road
and it's still going strong riding on average once a week.
the beaded tyre was a bit heavy for the front end and affected handling but works great on the rear. the folding front is much lighter definitely improves handling up frontthey're on old mavic x517 ceramics i found nos when i built the bike in 2014 and give a nice profile

My 2001 Cannondale f2000 26er parts bin build, first ever lefty despite being a Canondale fan since '93. The bare frame cost me £25, still quite a capable bike. I'm building a 27.5 lefty wheelset though, just because I have the parts to do so.

Could do worse than a 26x1.75 Panaracer Pasela?
Not sure if they do a folding version, but I've had them on a 26" Trucker and now a retro Orange bike, and they've been perfect.

Holy moly, that colourscheme is iconic, what a bike! Almost seems a shame to ride it given the condition, but what else would you do?

Cheers, it does get ridden, just very carefully 😉

For wheels aside from older stuff that I still user I've got a wheel with a Halo White line rim which I quite like the look of. They aren't too pricey either.
For tyres I've gone with the ever popular billy bonkers and some maxxis DTH for commuting duties. I think I prefer the schwalbes.
Blessing the thread with a couple more builds I’ve done for friends…
