Yep, I like that take. Like the idea of experimenting with 1x but on another build

Almost broke the 200km day ride mark on this bike this last Sunday, my ‘proper’ geared bike that I built last September. There’s probably frames out there that would fit better and would definitely be lighter, but for what it cost it’s been maybe the best bike purchase I’ve yet made, bridleway bikes r the best.
Speaking of possibly silly purchases, just used a friends shop discount to buy some 45c Vittoria Terreno Dry tyres that I’m going to try and squeeze into here… frame is rated at 45c and I’ve seen people squeeze 47c with no room for peanut butter, but this fork is rated for 42c so I’m quite possibly risking it… Will definitely be a Summer only tyre I think… Will update here for anyone curious whenever they arrive.

Saw an excellent All Day? At the lights in Vauxhall. Dynamo lights, VO guards, Alfine hub gears. Must be someone on here, nice build.

Does anyone know if the 55mm PDW fenders fit a Kepler? Any disadvantage to getting the biggest ones if I'm only running 35c tyres at the moment? Thinking it will preserve flexibility for later..
Edit: looking at the PDW fitting guide, 55mm won't fit so I went 45mm

What are the biggest 650b tires anyone was able to fit in on a kepler? I know it says 48c, but maybe there's anyone who managed to fit in 50c? thanks

I had some Maxxis Refuse 27.5 x 2.00 in for a while. The bleeding edge of acceptable!

What year is your frame? mine is 2018 blue to green fade, and I remember that original tire clearance was a bit less than what they currently specify on the latest models. And what was the rim width of your wheels? thank you!

I have the Yellow/Pink from 2019 which also was apparently suitable for 650x48 , and I'm on DT Swiss X432s which are 25mm internal/29mm external.

I’m thinking of shifting my 58cm Kepler with the galaxy paint job (black with blue/pink speckles - is lovely). It’s the canti version, before these so called “disc brakes”. Currently set up as a fast tourer with Campag 2x 10s but might split and sell the frame/fork. Any interest?

Ah well- 2 months later, yeah they’re good! Were easy to set up and haven’t had any problems tubeless wise.
I definitely felt more sluggish on road than I did on 40c Goodyear Connectors but I think that’s more to do with the size-up.
They’re fast, good grip, and strong. Yet to puncture and I’ve just been bike packing in Scotland; riding rocky things a gravel bike like mine is out of is depth in.
Plus, I reckon they look pretty good too and that’s the main thing…

Saw someone on a black, racked up, flat bar Kepler on the water link way yesterday. Looked great and very "on here". Gave me some unhealthy ideas.

Samesies, he always slows down and smiles when passing me and the mutt. Bike looks well sorted.

Finally got around to finishing (more or less) and riding my Kepler as a sort of long-way to the shops/pub gravelish bike. Needs a few tweaks to the bars but fun to ride.

Fancy tyres for a pub bike!
Lovely build. To answer the 1x question more seriously here but trying to keep it short...
Have built up several 1x bikes for gravel & CX to commuting to crits. Works great for simplicity and going off-road. Can work on a pure road bike if happy with the 'compromises' and a sensible range. I Personally tend not to care about the perfect cadence or that one time a year I hit a long downhill.
Saying that, I wouldn't go out of my way to take off a perfectly good groupset. The crit bikes running large aero 1x chainrings sure do look good but that is where it ends.
Get some nice hoops and fast tyres instead (if not already)..
