I understand the protest but the letter reads as reactionary, protectionist bullshit, stating riders 'welcome to compete in 'our' sport' - huh, what? Pidcock is OS champ and World Cup winner, MvdP multiple World Cup winner. Whose sport are we talking about?

The regular MTB riders complain that the sport doesn’t get enough media attention, then when the riders who can generate that turn up, complain that they’ve turned up. Dickheads.

The UCI rule application was cack-handed but it’s a well established rule that has been enforced previously.
