Nice to see an Ineos top 3 today.
Record rocking the Esso sponsorship too so he's on brand.

So, following Pidders excellent display in the short track, the UCI have decided to upgrade him, MvDP and Sagan up the starting grid. MTB riders union have written an open letter against the last minute rule change. All the big names behind it, but it looks like the smaller nations are likely to lose out most if MvDP hoovers up an Olympic qualification place. Opinions? UCI in UCI being cunts shocker?

I dont know why people sound surprised . Once a cnt always a cnt

Not a great look. He’d likely get an Olympic place from wherever he started no?
-
• #47182
In the interview with Matt Stephens he doesn’t seem that bothered. And being a technical course with not many places to pass, it could have been tricky.

Bothered by?

Going for the win

Sorry I don’t quite follow.
The point was about an Olympic place…? -

UCI in UCI being cunts shocker?
That'd be the same UCI that put this out on socials after 4 days of age-cat worlds racing has just finished

Wow

I understand the protest but the letter reads as reactionary, protectionist bullshit, stating riders 'welcome to compete in 'our' sport' - huh, what? Pidcock is OS champ and World Cup winner, MvdP multiple World Cup winner. Whose sport are we talking about?
-

If MVDP places high enough, he can earn NL an Olympic spot. There are a few other riders / nations fighting for that place. Moving him up the grid improves his chances of getting that place with the same effort. If he had started at the back he might not have had the legs or motivation to fight through the field.

Hmm I dunno. Why did he not ride the short if he’s just there for a jolly?

Famous people in the race, more viewers, more money. Same old story no?

‘Our sport’ is used I think just to get across the point that it is 40 riders from the field who have the same feeling. But their main point is that there is no reason to change the rules at the last minute other than pressure from invested parties. Some riders have been pushing all season to improve their standing, and I can see how it would be dissappointing to have your place moved due to a big star taking the start for WC and potentially losing your Olympic spot.

MTB commentary is dreadful
"he is very good"
"you can see by the effort he's putting in that it requires effort"
"it's not just about jumping and bouncing" -

Yeah, nah.
Olano. The last and only one.
