Shell operate with near impunity and 100% absolutely do not give a fuck about anyone or anything other than money, I think they probably would have had the will to ignore an indignant regional cycling brigade

If there'd been an activist campaign to drive Ineos out of the sport, perhaps this championship would have refused to take Shell's money?

What's your plan for getting out giant multinational corporations and petrochemical exporting countries out of professional cycling then?

I’ve not read the thread because I don’t want spoilers, but is there a highlights show of the men’s RR? I can find the full race on iplayer but cant see any highlights shows.

Shell need to believe that sponsoring sport helps their image. If their sponsorship, or INEOS sponsorship is seen to generate controversy then that would be considered. They’d weigh up controversy vs sports-wash before getting involved.

How much controversy would be needed to make a change, I don’t know.

I'm not sure whether others want a climate change debate in this thread. So I'll wait quietly.

Probably watch from ~ 80km to the finish. The full 6hrs might be a bit much :)
