I've had xc8s on my fixed and xc2s (all the new square bar type) on my gravel bike for about 4 or 5 years with no issues. Mileage isn't anywhere near BRPs and I can tell they're not going to last forever but they've been fine.
I like the feel of times, I went from look > shimano > time xpresso 4 on my road bike also.
But yeah, if you're not a princess and the pea type like I am, shimano seem way more solid.
