  • I'll probably put it up in Classifieds at some point but just a heads up for you folding heads that I think I'll sell my Brompton. I got it this time last year.
It's an 'Explore' in Fire Coral, 6spd, mudguards and I've put JK midheight risers on it.
It'll also come with the large 'Borough' bag complete with waterproof cover, a spare tyre and a mount for your Wahoo.
I'll give it a clean and put some pictures up if anyone's interested.
    Let's say £1000.

  • looking for a 2spd superlight if anyone has one to sell...

  • Anyone come up with a good way to carry a suit while on a Brompton? Mostly think I can get away with cycling in chinos and a shirt and packing a smart jacket in a Borough with my laptop etc, but for the days where more might be needed I’m curious if anyone has any tricks that work well.

  • I use a packing/suitcase organiser cube to transport my suit to concert venues in an old Brompton T bag. As long as you fold carefully they keep jackets presentable!

  • These have always been popular for cycling with a suit. Not owned one myself but know a few people who are happy with them.

  • Anyone have any experience with the Brompification bolt on front hub?

I need to replace the front wheel on my C Line (bearings are shot, rim is worn) and SJS have the Brompification hub built on to a Brompton rim for £150.

Or is there an alternative front hub I should consider?

    SP Dynamo

  • Minimod/hubsmith are pretty good IMO.

  • @amey I did consider a dynamo hub but I really should prioritise putting on one on a bike that I will actually use on dark, unlit country roads.

@HoKe Thanks, will have a look.

Almost totally happy with my C Line after replacing loads of bits (including swapping almost all the bolts for stainless/ti).

  • once you finish/worn through those tyres get the conti urban - will make the ride a smoother and easier experience.

  • I already wore through the crappy Schwalbe’s that were on there. The tyres in the photo are the Conti Urbans 😉

  • Haha, my bad!

Definitely looks like the real deal now. @sbbohr helped me with my wheelset (two speed btw) but I’m sure he can do something nice for you.

  • I always go with either a jtek if you want a better price or mini mods if you want lowest weight.

Can build you one for that price or less

  • Thanks - yeah, I have one of those. I can vouch for it working well but also making my back very sweaty, which is why I only use it wearing full Lycra on my regular bike. I guess I’ll stick with that for when I need full suit and then use the Brompton on days I can get away with something a bit more casual.

  • Oh that’s a good shout, I have one of those knocking around in a suitcase. Will give it a go!

  • nice. is that a standard telescopic seatpost?

  • :)

  • What's the puncture resistance like?

  • Enough for commuting, much better than kojak, worse than marathon but doesn’t weigh a ton.

  • Sounds promising!

    Much is the hub?

You'd get a CR18 or a Brommy double wall rim for £30, tenner on spokes (maybe a bit more actually, the usual cheap sources probably don't do brommy short spokes), I'd take £40 for a wheelbuild so that leaves £60-70 for the hub, is it worth that? Jtek Ultra Lite is circa £40.

I also have used the T Bag. But I just used two clean bags for life, and didn't compress the bag. Although I wasn't also carrying a laptop, so you may need to think about packing. TBH I probably could have done it up tighter.

  • @sbbohr Thanks, I’ll have a think and get back to you.

@swedeee Yes and no. It’s a standard telescopic bottom part but then I replaced the top with a Thomson seat clamp, a USE shim and a Nitto seatpost.

@M_V I think the hub alone retails for around £90.

  • thinking about listing my brompton for sale to fund a cargo bike. Anyone interested?
M2L converted by Kinetics. Hope X2 black hydraulic discs, Hope pro 2 EVO black hubs, Chris King black headset, handbuilt wheels with black spokes and powdercoated black rims. Sugino 75 cranks, Brompfication tensioner. Titanium seat post and bars. Little use but a couple of areas where the powdercoating has worn off.

  • Curious amalgamation spotted on the street in Glasgow this week. (Not mine).
