Why is he surprised that hookless rims don't hold a tyre at 75psi when that's beyond what any hookless setup can hold? Apologies if he explains this in the 6mins of rambling beforehand, I skipped to the explosionszzz

removed, was nonsense.

Ah, so he is a moron, just as I thought

Conti say GP5K is good for 73psi on hookless for all sizes

I think his rim was wider than 21mm

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 75>73

if chris froome proves anything its that anyone who rides a Factor is a fucking moron

I don't believe his gauge could reliably tell the difference.
If something is rated for 73psi, it should be able to take a static cold 110psi without exploding.

130% according to the video ranter...
My favourite bit though is "criminally increasing Crr needlessly"
"Hookless absolutely not working. Welcome to the bike industry. Putting lives at risk for the sake of saving a few bob on tooling cost. Exploding at the rated pressure (5 bar) with 0 safety factor. Please watch and share this video. Conti state a 25mm 5k TR and max 21mm internal rim is a safe combination. The fact that the ETRTO and brands can't agree on what is a safe mix is a massive red flag and we should not adopt this until something is done about it. Even Conti have stated they're only working to a 130% safety factor on hookless pressure which is worrying. What are the virtues of hookless again? There are no benefits. Tubeless maybe, but hookless is a cost cutting exercise in tooling. Ask the factories. And 5 bar on a narrow 25 or 28mm tyres is way too low for 85+kg riders on smooth roads. That is criminally increasing Crr needlessly. Stick to hooks and 5k TR tyres, tubes or tubeless if you like messing about."

I'm assuming Black Inc wheels as it was a Factor, here's their tyre pressure recommendage

Funny, I've been riding 10 mile TTs all year on 700×25 GP4K at 5 bar front, 5.5 bar rear at 105kg, and I'm not fully convinced that it isn't a bit more than I need.

I'd normally bang in 95-100psi with tubes on 23-26mm tyres f/r on the TT bike at 90-95kg.

You guys been on severe diets or what

No, I was wrong, he had some Extralite rims with 21mm internal.

was told to post this here, pls dont call me a moron:
I wanted to get some fatter tyres for my crossrip, did some research and bought some Vittoria Terreno Dry TNT 38mm. Turns out I knew very little about tubeless conversion, and my wheels are just regular old straight edged road bike wheels.
The VTs specifically say hooked wheels only on the sides, so I should just send these back right?
-
• #5422
if you are otherwise happy with the tyres and not going to buy new wheels you could run them with tubes.
if you are up for it you could tape up your rims and try tubeless and go back to tubes if it doesn’t work or you change your mind.
unless your rims are hookless, they have hooks. hookless is not standard -

If your rims are generic road rims from about the last 40 years, they're hooked. TNT (tubed'n'tubeless) tyres are fine with tubes if your rims are not suitable for tubeless.
When crotchet (hooked, "high pressure") rims were a new thing, tyres starting coming with two pressure ratings, standard and HP. If your rims really are hookless, you'll probably be fine up to 3 bar/45psi, which is enough on 38s if you're under about 75kg

Thanks both, I've fitted the tyres with my old tubes and they're working great. I'll try tubeless at some point soon :)

Fulcrum racing 900 - is this rim profile tubeless ready?
I have found conflicting info... Disc brake models are but this is the rim brake model.
This seems to meet the same rim profile as a hunt tubeless wheel, from my eye?

The 6 minutes of annoying chat to skip through was at least as unnerving.
