    I don't believe his gauge could reliably tell the difference.

    If something is rated for 73psi, it should be able to take a static cold 110psi without exploding.

    Funny, I've been riding 10 mile TTs all year on 700×25 GP4K at 5 bar front, 5.5 bar rear at 105kg, and I'm not fully convinced that it isn't a bit more than I need.

  • I'd normally bang in 95-100psi with tubes on 23-26mm tyres f/r on the TT bike at 90-95kg.

    I wanted to get some fatter tyres for my crossrip, did some research and bought some Vittoria Terreno Dry TNT 38mm. Turns out I knew very little about tubeless conversion, and my wheels are just regular old straight edged road bike wheels.

    The VTs specifically say hooked wheels only on the sides, so I should just send these back right?

  • if you are otherwise happy with the tyres and not going to buy new wheels you could run them with tubes.
    if you are up for it you could tape up your rims and try tubeless and go back to tubes if it doesn’t work or you change your mind.
    unless your rims are hookless, they have hooks. hookless is not standard

    If your rims are generic road rims from about the last 40 years, they're hooked. TNT (tubed'n'tubeless) tyres are fine with tubes if your rims are not suitable for tubeless.

    When crotchet (hooked, "high pressure") rims were a new thing, tyres starting coming with two pressure ratings, standard and HP. If your rims really are hookless, you'll probably be fine up to 3 bar/45psi, which is enough on 38s if you're under about 75kg

    I have found conflicting info... Disc brake models are but this is the rim brake model.

    This seems to meet the same rim profile as a hunt tubeless wheel, from my eye?
