I believe two of her children are employed by her on the public purse, so the grift is a family endeavour.

Yep. Something like 80 grand for the pair for at least the last ten years.

So, speculating wildly, she's not resigning because none of them have an income source lined up, after her bluff was called / she played her hand too early. She couldn't even get that right.
