You should have the stem on before you expand the expander

'really difficult' is probably overstating it slightly.
I'm going into the garage right now to go through the process with the stem on before expanding the expander as per your instructions and see how I get on.

Over time, the headset starts to develop a tiny amount of play. It seems that it's because when I preload the the headset, the stem is so tight on the steerer that its prohibiting the bearing being preloaded correctly - the stem isn't being fully squished down the steerer because of the friction. It always feels fine at the time of fitting but after a few rides a tiny bit of play always comes back.
It infuriates me. But I admit that I've always been expanding the expander first...

I might have a drawing somewhere, but the nut has to be sized to each individual fork so it's really a matter of taking measurements and seeing what works. On the Look 585 which is what that particular one is glued into there's room for the lightening holes to be 6mm, YMMV. Pretty sure the other two plastic forks in the fleet have plain nuts, the drillium is a nice conceit for saving 3g on a weight weenie bike but serves no other purpose. I use Araldite Fusion but any 2-part epoxy will do, the most important thing is surface preparation to get the parts clean and keyed, and let it cure fully (24h) before use.

I'm a fan of applying 5Nm to the preload screw after tightening the steerer clamp bolts of the stem. #everythingisrubber and a bit of extra tension seems to prevent the stem walking up the steerer.

I hadn't realised the Swiss cheese gubbins is one of your own creations? Drillium would obviously be a must.
For surface prep, would something like 400 grit wet and dry paper do for keying the inside of the steerer?

The chap I bought the frame set from said that he was the second owner. He bought it 2 years ago from another chap who lived in a massive house in Gloucestershire who bought it new in 2010 and had it hanging on a wall until 2021. It sounded a bit far fetched until I seen it in the flesh.

Has anyone seen the new Cervelo mountain bikes?
From the pictures online it looks like they are wireless only.

All the cables on the GX versions go through the stem. They call it performance over practically but it's a pain in the arse to work on. My mechanic had to charge someone 3 hours labour to change a headset bearing on a something similar. I'd rather have a Blur they're 90% the same and the other 10% aren't improvements but the yellow jumbo one does look nice.

Serious question- is Cervelo or their parent in financial distress?
Several stores here in Canada have fire sale prices on some models, ie 40% off.
I’ve also been getting almost daily sale emails from Trek.

I think the whole bike industry has an over supply problem at the moment, so a lot of brands have seriously reduced prices to shift excess stock.

I was looking at a frame in the local dealer last week.
They phoned me last night saying they could get a whole bike for $100 less than the old price of the frame. Things must be bad in overstock and cash flow.

How would one go about verifying the authenticity of a Cervelo RCA? We've had one donated to our shop, and the person who donated was a little unclear about a few things. Is there any possibility it's a fake, and if so what would be the obvious signs? As far as we can tell it's real but want to be 100% sure before selling it
