  • I find the articles and comments on The Age/Sydney morning herald particularly entertaining post series when the bogans have underperformed, you have to pick your article’s wisely as like The Times you only get a few freebies so it’s best to read ones with lots of comments or that mention Ricky ‘angry man’ Ponting.

  • I quite like Ponting’s bristling-with-anger delivery at time. And from the days I managed to watch the tests on TV his knowledge and analysis of the game is a level above anyone else on Sky, or anywhere else for that matter

  • And I also really grew to love the low key “g’day everyone” that Glenn McGrath started his stints with each time on TMS

  • We're lucky to have him. I really do feel grateful when he talks on Sky. Like he's doing us a special favour.

  • yep really enjoyed McGrath and of course Jim maxwell

  • I used to dread McGrath's stints on TMS, but this series he's been great. His pettiness has mellowed just enough for it to be funny and it keeps things spicy.

Whenever his relentlessly absurd competitiveness is brought up he just says Warne was worse and doubles down.

I really like Jim Maxwell but's he's too polite. He was the first to say Cummins should have recalled Bairstow.

  • I do think Tufnell should see a doctor about his adenoids. He’s got one of those voices that smells of stale B&H even over the radio.

  • He’s got one of those voices that smells of stale B&H

    That's why he is loved
How I miss those pre smoking ban days

  • I have zero complaints about any presenters on TMS really. It’s an oasis.

  • I seem to be alone in not liking Jim Maxwell. Other than him, they re all brilliant. Isha Guha has been particularly insightful.

  • Maxwell is largely great, but got a wee bit carried away by his own press this series. TMS is at its best when not making experiments like giving Graham fucking Swann airtime.

  • Yep. It's a joy. The pace of changing between them works perfectly and the selection of voices all bring something different.
If I were having to drive for 7 hours there's nothing I'd rather listen to.

Find it a bit wierd when I see them on TV though (Norcross, Mann, Aggers).
Zaltz has really grown into the job. Funny that he just started as a stats fanboi.

  • TMS is awesome. I got Sky Sports for the duration of the Ashes but I'd listen to TMS whilst Sky was on the iPad on mute.

Only sour note is Vaughan, who's still just a bit too bitter about the past - there's too much about him (and not in a self deprecating way).

Out of TMS this summer I've got two absolute heroes:

    • Zaltz
    • Michael McNamee for the England v Ireland test

Was also nice to have Atherton in the TMS box for a very brief interview. He's certainly one that I'd like to have on TMS (along with Ponting, Taylor, Butch and Hussain from Sky). KP and Mel Jones can stay on mute.

  • I don’t like him. The way he says ‘dayboo’ instead of debut and his announcement of the shipping forecast makes me cringe and can he not do the score like everyone else in the commentary box?
But it’s the excitability at an aussie taking a wicket and the way he tails off when he realises they are not that triggers me.

  • We still have the ashes yeah? Cool.

  • You do.

But we have the best national Test cricket team in the world.

    So, horses for courses.

  • I didn’t listen to every minute of TMS but i listened to a fair bit and I didn’t hear Ebony Rainford-Brent once. Was she on at all? That TV times article listed her as part of the commentary team.

  • I believe Australia are the holders of the World Test Championship as well as the Ashes.

But you guys definitely retain the 'Tries really hard' award

  • And the 'acting superior in any circumstance' cup

  • Feel bit bereft without the Ashes. What have we got coming up? It's World Cup at some point isn't it?

  • The Hundred is on at the moment.

    (Purists may not like it...)

  • Is Andrew 'Red Ball Reset' Strauss
still lurking in the administrative background?

  • ER-B was certainly part of the TMS team for the Womens' Ashes Test.

  • Come on you posh crisps, or corn snacks, or whatever.
