I’ve someone coming to look at buying my street triple tonight. Great bike but don’t use it enough to justify its value.
Thinking of getting an older r1200gs (had one new) or vfr800 to have as runaround.
Anything else I should consider? £3k ish

Anything else I should consider?
XTZ750 Super Tenéré or XRV750 Africa Twin would both be good choices and £3k should buy a nice enough one of either...

Cheers.
That's a lot cheaper. I may buy it as well, then try it vs the Veepeak https://amzn.eu/d/gUu0yGU
I haven't had a chance to run the bike again to see if it's come back.

Not something you see everyday - Yamaha TZ500.

In the late 70s maybe early 80s I was deluded enough to think that I could buy a TZ750 and make it road legal. Around the same time I was thinking the same thing about an Imp powered sidecar rig. This was during my time as a marshall at the Southern 67 racing club at Brands. Too many ne'er-do-wells involved in that club were egging me on. I got as close as bump starting the sidecar but it was pie in the sky and never to be.

Lanbretta LD - amazing what tune up parts are being made for these now, literally worth nothing not so long ago.

Looks like you have some interest already! Selling bikes is a hard, long game if you want the price in your head. It's easy to lose a lot of money when you cave in, especially on newer bikes.

Went and sat on a few bikes at the weekend, it's depressing to have a 29 inch inseam. Even with the CRF300's soft suspension I'm still on my tip toes. Think I will need to shave the seat down or source a lower seat.
Have always been interested in the Yamaha T7 but I can't get over how big it is. I guess you just get used to it? Lowering links are a bad idea right?

With 33,5 I’m usually annoyed how low bikes are. My duke 690 is about that length and I want to swap to smc version to be a bit higher. Don’t know why I love the feeling of a tall bike: handling, balance, cornering - all of it. I think once you get used to it, it’s fine. I know for tenere 700 you can get a low aftermarket seat that lowers you down by 20mm

I wouldn't have the longest legs in the world, not sure of my exact inseam length but I usually go for a 30" leg in trousers. I was a bit freaked out by there 865mm seat height on the XTZ before I rode it but a lot of it is just down to the old slide left technique when you stop I think...

Himalayan?

Taller bikes can be tricky to reverse into a parking space.

Tried this and got a hit. So cheers for the recommendation. I haven't checked it vs the Veepeak as the contacts are quite messy, so I don't want any returns issues.
The Veepeak does look a bit more robust, but I'm not sure that matters for my purpose.
Nice to know it's nothing catastrophic. Should probably buy the pay for app to clear the code to see if it reoccurres.

It’s nice enough but personally I’m a bit meh with cafe racers now, they’ve been done a bit to death. Like bobbers a few years back.
Bit of a waste of an air cooled rs tbh. -

If you want something endlessly interesting, check out HDs.
I've been idely browsing them. People often note that they're endlessly customisable. This is very true, but fuck me do their owners have awful taste!

Cheers. My reading is that it'll be fine to ride. The likely impact is running a bit rich or lean rather than anything catastrophic.
I really need to do a bit of overall maintenance. Just finding the time...

Strangely I have had 2005 883R for about three months now and I’m keeping it stock as possible (apart from the whitewalls I got stiffed with) despite reading the odd issue of BSH recently. I’m too old for a hardtail chopper.
I kinda only like fairly stock but unardorned HDs or completely custom stuff (usually fairly old skool looking). The middle ground of just firing the HD and screaming eagle parts gun at them can lead to quite nasty end results!!!

Yeah I'm inclined to agree with you. However, I really like this at the moment:

Everytime I start looking at Harleys I think to myself "Have you put a bit of weight on recently?"
TuneECU (Android only but recommended on https://www.triumphrat.net/) + https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Scanner-Diagnostic-Adapter-Android/dp/B07CP632CL/ref=asc_df_B07CP632CL/
Should work
