Ya know what, I don’t mind him either. I think because there’s quite a few commentators on Eurosport on rotation it seems to work better. Basically, he’s fine.

omg that video is nuts! ulrich's celebration was like something out of 'Blades of Glory'. I wonder what he said to AV apart from 'you can have 2nd'
-
• #46754
lame, JV cold because he used to work in a fish packing factory? class should be a protected characteristic, I jest, apart from the last bit
-
• #46755
Im a Kirby fan boi too. He’s lol.

His job is "fill the dead air". Which now there are more people in rotation he seems a bit better (dilution is the pollution solution right?) plus he seems to respond well to Adam and Dan. Which gives Sean a bit of a break from him. Rob though, sucks air in to wet mouth, well what do we have here?

I feel like the recently retired riders are the only ones who ever seem to be able to explain why anything is happening whilst the main commentators are just saying what they see out loud like an Audio Description feed.
Matt Rendell needs to just be kept away from live television; you are a colour/background guy.
And the Eurosport guy who does recipes and just reads aloud from the road book (I don't even remember his name) can do one too.
-
• #46758
well, what do we have here? WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE?
FTFY
.. I actually don't mind him (and lord knows, it's an impossible job) but once you notice he repeats every significant sentence twice you can't unhear it!

This is how all sports commentary works isn't it?

Want to know how he got this gig and how much he’s getting paid

Ned Boulting makes it sound easy and makes it very difficult for any other commentator.
-
• #46762
how he got this gig..
I don't mind him either, but I think he did reluctantly get forced to admit he'd been a guest at some Parisian societal dinner for Oxbridge alumni (or something) the other day.. which probably doesn't hurt matters!
In his defence, he did also acknowledge that Adam Blythe would take the piss out of him massively for this..

my fav part of pro cycling fandom is when pog does a little dance and people says '😂😂😂😂 Never change Poggi!!!!' These people would lose their minds if they met anyone ever

You leave Jonathan Harris-Bass alone.

Lorena Weibes is a DNS today at the Tour de France Femmes, due to stomach trouble.
Should make the likely sprint finish today less of a foregone conclusion.

I'm in the pro-Kirby lobby. I think he'll be missed when he's gone.
A bit like Richie Benaud, his voice in the background is a reminder that summer is here. Though obviously pretty asinine at times and wildly inaccurate at others - but all part of the charm.
Not mad keen on the recipe/abbeys guy though.

JHB is also there to do translation of interviews, no? he was a bit frustrating this year given the amount 'actually i dont know anything about the wine from round here' and making holiday plans with one of the other pundits
-
• #46768
Jono?! Love his bits.
I’ve got full Stockholm syndrome and now love a bit of Kirbs.
I’d love to see ‘Imlach on Kirby: the big interview’. Frost Nixon vibes.
-
• #46769
Jono strikes me as the sort who doesn’t think they are well of because they only socialise with the better off than them, type.
-
• #46770
It really wasn’t the deal you’re making it out to be.
I accept this.
Pog is INNOCENT.
T-shirt pls?
-
• #46771
Fucking "Pog is a bike racer" comments every time he looks like he might attack.
No shit dickheads and he still lost the fucking Tour so is Vin a better bike racer? Ya'll never refer to him as a "bike racer".
But also this :P

• #46772
Also can we please not turn this in to a Messi vs Ronaldo type thing where one has to be considered the greatest.
-
• #46773
No sorry, Carlton will never be the greatest!
-
• #46774
We ALL KNOW ELI IS THE BEST.

Wasn't that Lance?
on the cycling podcast they described it as a battle between warm characters and cold characters
