Crikey. What’ve you got against Pog?!
The race leader is there to be challenged. The stages are there to be won.

Vingo and JV worked hard
Vaughters racing again?
-
• #46729
it is, after all, still a competitive stage that counts for the green jersey
Only at the intermediate sprint though, no?

I’m only interested if they change into full kit.

lol it’s his energy to ‘waste’ though isn’t it?
I would not criticise Pogacar’s racing instincts so readily. He’s actually not bad at this bike riding thing.

Maybe i've got selective listening but it seems there is almost no commentary from Anthony McCrossan (is that the right person?) about why anything is happening, he never seems to actually talk about why anything is happening just individual efforts in isolation. Also a sin of our lord and savour carlton but without any of the partridgesque flair.

The race leader is there to be challenged. The stages are there to be won.
On the final stage the race leader isn't supposed to be challenged though, and the stage win is for a breakaway rider or the sprinters. That convention might be wrong, but that's the convention.
I don't actually hate Pog but he does annoy me sometimes!

It's hard work running a team and maintaining that ego y'know!
-
• #46737
It is. The 'racing instincts' bit gets me sometimes though, I do think sometimes his 'racing instinct' seems to equal pointless wasting of energy, which is not how you win a race, which is presumably what racing instinct is supposed to be about?

Anyway I'll stop now, I think I've made my point!

TIL there are people that complain about how Pog rides. Boggles the mind.
So you like the way the SKY train won the races? Not an ounce of wasted energy, all calculated and executed like robots?

The race leader (JV@7.5mins) was not challenged and the champs win is for anyone, but usually is a sprint finish. G went for it a few years ago. All sorts of people have a bash. It’s slightly tongue-in-cheek but sometimes works, a la Vino (who moved from 6th on GC to 5th with his champs win in 2005). It really wasn’t the deal you’re making it out to be.
Pog is INNOCENT.

Fucking "Pog is a bike racer" comments every time he looks like he might attack.
No shit dickheads and he still lost the fucking Tour so is Vin a better bike racer? Ya'll never refer to him as a "bike racer".
Fuck, I've turned into everyone else on here having a go at the commentators rather than talking about bike racing. Bastards.
-
• #46741
No, he’s not. Evidence of his duplicitous nature:

The only reason I haven't won the Tour is I never had a fish-packing job.
-
• #46743
He is the worst commentator. Almost ruins the CX world champs every year.
Also, can people please say Champs-Élysées, rather than Champs. Understandable when typing but commentators on Sunday repeatedly saying Champs in an English accent as though it's their mate down the pub can fuck off.
-
• #46744
Annoyingly, I've heard one take that referred to him as a "bike racer's bike racer." As if the other bike racer, the one who won, is seemingly less of a bike racer.
-
• #46745
I don't mind Carlton Kirby.

• #46747
There. I've said it.

this division between 'passionate/attacking/instinctive/exciting vs cool/calculating/boring ect' is a bit of a trap.

bring back phil liggett
With the right group of breakaway people, he might have had a chance.
With depleted sprinter teams and main sprinters gone, was more unpredicatable this year.
He also has some experience with breaking away from the entire peleton.
