So, with forks arriving today along with the tube order submitted, shit is very much getting real!!

For a big old frame, the attached looks pretty well proportioned. Forks also look quality for the price - just over £140 including shipping and prepaid tax.

Thoughts now need to turn to cranks - I’m currently feeling Rotor - and the paint finish where I’m torn between plain colour (burnt orange or terracotta?) and some sort of fade (probably still including orange, maybe Tequila Sunrise?). Either way, I’m thinking leaving the fork as it is rather than matching to the frame as if I’m to make a choice I’ll regret it may as well be that

Any recommendations for a 104 BCD 4 bolt NW chainring?

Rotor, but the road ones, Aldhu or Carbon, then use their direct mount chainring

Are you not tempted to go for a slightly longer headtube and seattube?

Rex 3 have a wider/bigger q factor, because they're MTB cranks.

The Rex 3 cranks with their wider Q factor aren’t an issue for me and will add to clearance at the rear

Decided to go with the slightly sloping too tube for a combination of “a bit more post will aid comfort” (will it even be noticeable with fat rubber?), stand over and aesthetics

I like orange bikes if that helps - my favourite bikes in my Indy fan and my Tallboy are orange..

I’m certainly leaning towards orange at the moment

Back in the new build room, Rotor Rex 3 have arrived and look just the job, now need to decide on direct mount ring (more pricey) or just a 104bcd NW ring on the existing spider (might limit the number of teeth and push me towards the direct mount option).

And, despite the orange bike photos, I do need to settle on a paint scheme
