Your tweets? Media?
I stopped blogging race reports so for me, Twitter is a nice little reminder of the dumb shit I was doing for the last 10 years.

Can someone help me understand what thr difference between the stylised ‘X’ used throughout the indy article is vs the X on my phone's keypad?
-
• #1004
I went for Windows X Meta. I'll DM you my lawyers deets and we'll let them sort it out.

Nowt of note, I'll miss some of the accounts I follow but no value in any of my "content".

With Firefox's Inspector panel I can see there's a bit of CSS that is applied to any links that changes the font for the link text to
Indy Serif
. That has a more stylised X.[EDIT] Ah, it seems it's applied to the entire body, so it's just the X character in the
Indy Serif
font. -

Musk even messed up the physical rebranding of Twitter HQ.
Currently, the only letters that remain are “er”
Classic.

I'm not on twitter, but when I click on @music I just get a load of random meaningless posts.
I can imagine I'd be pissed. But one this I don't get is how no one took that handle until September 2011. Seems really odd to me.

If we take it seriously for a sec...
... it's interesting that he's plan for twitter has been to use it to create something totally different from twitter. While lots of people use twitter professionally with real names, my (probably incorrect) sense is that this is to profile themselves with their audience as content creators. I guess there are lots of others who use it in a LinkedIn style posting format.
However, surely a big part of the content is that it's you just posting rather than your employer being able to scroll back through your possibly poorly thought out tweets?
While I don't think it's genius or anything, it feels like he wants to make a MS/Meta/Google with a basket of products and twitter was vehicle with a big enough presence and infrastructure to do it.

it feels like he wants to make a MS/Meta/Google with a basket of products
Isn't that ths idea of his 'X' / 'everything' app? no ideas if he has the trust of his users, nor the time from his debts to complete it
-
• #1021
Yeah. I guess the point I was making is the phrase "everything app" gets repeated like it's special. But it's actually making one point from which you access other products - much like...
It's not really special as an idea imo.I think trust is a big thing. Given how shonky twitter now seems to be, not to mention the capriciousness of the owner. I'm sure the answer is blockchain or something.

This guy is so fucking dumb

Unsubstantiated rumour is he has a replacement for the app all ready to go, he just needs to grind the existing app into the ground to justify the switch.

I hope Mastodon is ready for the fresh influx.

But if they get rid of the bots who will generate their content?
What data would I want back?
