Plenty of cars running around on made up plates off eBay that have no relation to the car they are on. Or have ever been issued at all.

A criminal offence. It's hard to enforce - it makes you immune to all the cameras. But if plod sees it and checks it, a chase is guaranteed.

True, but when was the last time you saw a traffic officer that wasn’t busy or on a break?
-

It’s a one-sided design so can’t be flipped. We’ve rotated it several times at the manufacturer-prescribed intervals, but the divot isn’t vertically-centred, so just follows the rotation (there are two divots which align with my body shape and position regardless of rotation).
Not mustered the time/effort to contact Simba about it yet… really should, as it cost a flipping grand!!

I've seen traffic cars with nothing to do twice this week in Brixton. But it's rare, as you say. Haven't seen a traffic bike for years.

traffic cars with nothing to do
There's more than enough for them to do, they just can't be arsed to do it

Their ANPR alerts are popping off constantly in London’s famous. Unless your whip is flagged as ‘wanted’ for involvement in a more serious crime, feds are unlikely to give a flying fuck.

Haven’t seen a traffic cop in months, and have only seen police pursue and pull over a car once.
Last time I went a week without noticing shitty eBay-looking vehicle plates was probably also months ago.

Sounds like a fault, my old one had no such issues with a slightly lighter me and a similar to you weight person on the other side, don't think it got rotated in a few years, still going strong.

On mattress chat, for those of an environmental bent, it is worth knowing that the direct delivery companies are causing quite a few issues:

I want some nice jazzy 20mm webbing to attach some some different buckles to my Carradice Nelson to replace the leather straps. Does anyone know of a place where I can buy some tough nylon webbing that is 20mm or 25mm wide, is patterned/coloured, but isn’t tubular?
TIA!
Also, I want to use these fidlock buckles as I really liked them when I saw them on a friends bag. Any reason not to?

Thanks for the data point. I’ll try to muster up the courage to begin the warranty odyssey…

I got some nylon webbing off ebay for pennies from China. Which reminds me I need to finally get round to doing whatever it was I got it for.

Apologies in advance as this has been asked and answered umpteen times, but... where's the current place to go in East London for getting the paint shot-blasted off a bike frame?
I'm building a new bike for my daughter and have a Saracen alu frame with fucked paint that I'd like to get back to raw metal.

Found this in the end:
https://www.needlesports.com/Catalogue/Climbing/Rock-Trad-Climbing/Cord-Tape/Troll-20mm-15kN-Flat-Tape-m
Not as jazzy as climbing tape used to be, and it’s described as flat so fingers crossed it’s not tubular as that won’t work with clip buckles I don’t imagine. -

Try and find a local haberdashery or some arts and crafts shops even.

I was going to say if you're in London visit Kleins but they seem to have gone online https://kleinshaberdashery.co.uk/

Am I a bad man if, when I see a tragic story headlined "They squeaked when they died", all I can think of is the time somebody made a Teletubbies mod for Carmageddon?

You could do a hand-brake turn through a herd of Tinky-Winkies and if you ran down Po it would say "Eh oh" as it bounced off your windscreen. Unsurpassed moments in video games.
