Any ideas for drying boots in the summer when the heating is off. My road shoes are just getting smelly as they stay wet too long.
Will these melt my shoes/fuck up the stiff soles?

I have this model and it hasn't damaged any of my shoes including carbon soles.

The pro tip is a proper (i.e. refrigerant loop) dehumidifier, it blows warm dry air at whatever you place next to it, in my case post-ride shoes, helmet & gloves

Ah sweet. Will give it a shot. And look for some shoe deodoriser in the meantime. Lol.
@gbj_tester that sounds a bit expensive!

These work for me: https://bootbananas.com

Yeah, but I'd get one just for keeping my cycling kit sanitary now even if I didn't want one for general air quality control. I have a Trotec, they have suitable models from just under £100 at the moment, and you might even get away with a "Peltier" type in which case they're as low as £21.95

If I make a ppt in ppt on W10, and then open it in Keynote on a mac air, am I going to get any bullshit? Or will it just work?
Cheers.

Dodgy I should probably call a plumber to do this because it’s gas but they’ll probably stand there staring at it and not actually be able to fix it question.
I’ve got one of these Hotpoint hobs. It’s got those automatic shut-off devices that turn the gas off if the flame goes out, like most hobs now have. One of them has been temperamental for a while and randomly clicks out during cooking. A second one has started doing it and that one now won’t stay lit at all after I release the button. What’s the likely problem, is it common with modern hobs and is it easy to fix? The hob is clean, all the gas holes are clear and it’s clean around the sparkers and whatever the sensor thing is on the other side of the ring (thermocouple?).

I guess the only thing is that plumbers/boiler people /gas people might be similar to electricians in the regard that some will be willing to look at appliances and fault find while others only really deal with the supply. Worth asking over the phone anyway.

They won't be able to fix it on the first (diagnostic) visit, but replacing thermocouples is definitely a thing. If you want to pre-empt the matter, you could buy a set of thermocouples (might as well do them all at once now that they've started dying) and then call in the CORGI man to fit them.

We have a Simba, for the last year.
It was great for a while, but developed a massive divot on my side after a few months, that’s getting progressively worse. It’s basically ruined for me.
Dunno whether it’s a manufacturing flaw, or because I’m 93Kg.

Will flipping and turning it salvage it do you think? Worth a try but might be to late
Probably recommended for all mattresses (not just vac-pac ones) every couple of months or soEdit after another read of your post; Shouldn't be noticeable after such a short time
sounds shit -

I used info@mtcremovals.com to move a large range oven recently and they were brilliant, and cheap

Good to know - I'm small, light and generally sleeping alone, so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue. Is that something that you can get sorted under waranty?

We got a new mattress, but in reading about it also realised that our bed slats were too far apart, and resolving that with some extra slats greatly improved the comfort of our IKEA mattress in the time before we moved to the new one

I don't know the answer, but thanks for the reminder that my aqua shoes which got dunked in the River Severn on Thursday still haven't gone in the washing machine. It has a very particular smell, probably related to the fact it's unfortunately rather polluted by farming.
Anyway I came here to ask what's going on with a car which shows as insured on askMID, but comes back blank on the gov.uk check this car is taxed/MOT history sites?
I'm definitely getting the registration number right.
It's a Lamborghini Urus with an illegal registration number which is currently parked on double yellows which is why I'm suspicious...

Maybe it's insured but the VED has expired? What result do you get from the DVLA check? https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla

Same can't be found. But I just used UK vehicle data (https://ukvehicledata.co.uk/FreeVRMLookup) recommend somewhere else and I think it might be going through a transfer as the plate was on an AMG G class last month.
I've used Simba and Otty and like them both. They are quite firm compared to "traditional" mattresses so it will depend what you like.
If I was getting another mattress I'd get one of them again.
One thing to keep an eye on is refurbished ones. Often a fair bit cheaper and if you get them from ebay (not always in stock compared to the mattress websites) lots of the money off codes also apply.
