Watching the riders roll out between the torches up the murr is exciting to watch. So much is about to happen for each person on this ride. Good luck to all those racing, I will be at the Albanian CP marking cards for those who make it.

Cobbles looked pretty slippery on the live stream. Best of luck everyone!

As they seem all to be beading for Passo Gottardo, Axenstrasse is closed for cyclists since mid July.

Can confirm.
Was a slippery one on the Muur. But amazing atmosphere none the less. I was on the steep bit before the top and lots of people getting off and walking the last bit.

Surprised it was ridable if wet. Think I'd have walked. A few horror stories of riders races starting as ending on the muur. .
Who was first over? -
• #58
I'd have walked.
Bullshit. You'd have been up the front doing 600W. :P

Do you know whether the organizers have advised riders about this?
-
• #60
Yes it was talked about extensively in the rider briefing

By the time we walked from the start to the Muur the fast people had already finished their lap around town and gone over the top I think. But Robin lead the race on the very early stages so assuming him.

Was great to volunteer - Iād recommend anyone interested to sign up and do it. Make a nice little long weekend of it.

Would like to see the start from the other side. But riding up the muur with the torches is incredible.

Lol. It was a debacle from what I hear. Its now banned, the pavement too. But the alternatives to avoid it are silly, either more climbing or a bit of hike a bike. Will be funny to see what happens.

Yeah there is another road to the right which then brings you out around Fluelen but I remember it added a huge amount of elevation onto my route.

More climbing or hike a bike is silly? Mind you, Chinzig is at 2000m so how about 'more climbing or more climbing and a bit of hike a bike?'
The water in the lake was very nice for a swim last week however ;-)

Normally bikepacking doesn't do road stuff, thought Dotwatcher would have done it but seems not.

Bikes like the riders where quite varied. There where couple of full tourers with rohloff, one lo pro fixie, dinglespeedāer, specialized AWOL with huge tyres and Jones bars. Along with your usual fairlights, specializedā and canyons.
My fave bike was a carbon thing with twin 5 spokes and a milk bottle instead of water botttles.
