  • it looked ok? I'm no expert. not sure if that includes paddles or a pump either.

  • Apparently you can hire kayaks etc from Decathlon - at least the Surrey Quays one implied you could. Might be an option to try it out

  • Picked this up this afternoon. As clean as it looks in the photos. Touch too small for me so if anyone else fancies it for £120 get in touch.

Would make for a great first 'cross bike on the cheap, or get mudguard and bottle cage mounts brazed on at Argos and have a decent light tourer/commuter.

  • What size is it please? Approx?

  • What did the quality seem like?

I don't know about kayaks because I SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) but my board is a Decathlon one reduced to £199 from £299 and it's surprisingly well put together and has been great so far. I've bought some other SUP stuff from them and it's all thoughtfully designed by people who actually seem to get paddle sport and decent quality.

In the SUP world Decathlon boards are widely regarded as one of the best beginner all rounder boards, but obviously do some googling on that particular model/kayaks.

My board is £220 now but it went back up to £299 and stayed there for quite a long time, so the reduction is likely genuine.

My only real moan would be that their SUPs come with a straight ankle leash, which makes no sense at all because they're for surf and beginners aren't going to be doing that. On flat water (rivers/lakes) a coiled ankle leash makes much more sense, and is safer too as there's less chance of it snagging on underwater obstacles/vegetation. Although a quick release waist leash would be even better and are really the safety gold standard everyone should be using, but I'll not digress into SUP safety or we'll be here all evening...

  • 54cm, in Bristol.

  • Very similar. Looks like Thron was a successor to Brain, so guessing yours is/was the same model but a year or two older.

  • Those of a MTB persuasion might be interested to know that Merlin are selling 203mm TRP R1 rotors for under a tenner

  • Ahh man, that's a shame. I'll ask about and see if anyone is keen. The wheels look nice – Open Pros?

  • Anybody here remember the Superstar cheap wheel bonanza?

Well, I bought a set ahead of building a trail hardtail after I moved house and stuff, so 6 months ago. Turns out I must have got a bit overexcited, coz I bought 29ers when I need 27.

Anybody after a set of wide 29er wheels, boost, XD, hit this idiot up.

  • Has anyone seen these E thirteen cassettes about cheap?

Ive had a saved search on eBay for ages, nothing came up and then in the last couple of weeks I’d say there’s been about 20 new ones pop up so they must be heavily discounted somewhere.

My attempts at internet sleuthing have failed.

  • They were on the John Pye auction house. Aka old Moore large stock.

  • Cheers! Looks like the going rate was around £25 plus auction fees. No way I’m paying £125 for one then.

  • More Adidas road shoes found in TK Maxx at a nice price, this time in Norwich

  • I've got a slightly ratty 9-50t one going here too: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/366591/

  • Rigida somethings. I've found a friend who wants to try cross, so this should be perfect.

  • Silca has a sale on. They also have a rewards scheme that you can build up points quickly (sign up, like on Facebook etc). I got some synergetic lube for just postage (£4.75) and still have £19 worth of points to spend. The only downside is it maxes out at £25 per purchase.

If you want something simple here is my referral link for 20% off. If you spend £50 I get a £20 voucher. https://prz.io/X4Ao6LzfK

  • Wiggle / Chain Reaction selling Sram 11 speed chains for £5.99.

  • Do they ask for any proof of your birthday or could you just set it for tomorrow and get a €15 voucher?

  • I just set it for tomorrow.

Edit: I ended up with an ebike lube and a standard for postage in the end. £60+ of lube for £9 and 5 mins of my time.

  • Enjoy the voucher - just got something I had my eye on and impulse purchased something I don’t need (in case anyone else doesn’t need them but also suffers from poor impulse control, the 3D printed titanium workshop tools are 50% off)
