  • when wearing a manual watch on a daily basis, do you want to let it run low before winding the crown, or just top it up every now and then? And then do you always need to wind it until the spring is tight?

  • Generally, fully wound is when the torque from the mainspring is at its highest, and that gives the best performance, though in reality accuracy usually only starts to drop off when the power reserve is very low.

    If I’m wearing a manual watch I will wind it fully every morning when I put it on. With manual watches you will feel when it’s fully wound. Just stop when you feel that resistance.
