• Did you list it as spares or repair? Seems the only safe way to sell in that circumstance.

  • I’ve always had good experiences phoning eBay and explaining the situation. Most of what goes on with return and disputes seems to be completely automated.

  • Yep, but he bought it said it was defective and under ebay rules you have 30 days to return something and the seller has to pay for the return.

So yeah spares and repair doesnt seem to work even when listed like that.

  • Yeah I basically have to accept the return and pay the shipping because of the way they elected its defective.

The person bought something at a risk for 10 percent of what they go for working and obvs knew that.

Ebay becoming such a waste of time.

  • We've had similar on our business account.

Broken di2 mech, not working, so just for cage.

Buyer returns it as it is not working, we pay shipping both days.

    Crazy bias

  • So basically chancers can just take a punt on anything and then return it? Is there any mileage in adding “no returns” to a listing? I take it that doesn’t hold much water on eBay.

I’ve got some camera bits to sell (spares or repair) but I can safely say I can’t be arsed now!

  • Nah basically not, if they select defective as ive found out you have to accept it.

Its basically like ordering clothes to try on from asos apart from it costs you money for them being cunts.

The same seller who's returning it has a job lot of cameras with the same description as mine, so they are a fuckin chancer.

  • Waited till the last day to upload a label as it was cheaper than ebay providing it and I was being awkward, but its essentially cost me £7 for some cunt to try it. Furious.

Just waiting for the negative feedback

  • The same seller who's returning it has a job lot of cameras with the same description as mine

Buy them and return them as defective.

  • They will cancel the thing if i do it, might get a friend to do it. So petty but they have been an utter cunt.

  • What's their ebay shop? Be a shame if I got a defective camera from them.

  • @aperture_priority

  • Ironic his listing saying that at the bottom

  • Can you appeal the return in the resolution centre? It isn't defective if it is as described..

  • That’s the problem you can’t, it’s another lose lose on eBay. Have to accept the return and offer refund once back.

    Absolute bullshit

  • .

  • Jesus, that sounds like a matter for PC Plod not an internets message board.

  • Yeah I let them know but haven't heard a thing from them yet and eBay have done absolutely nothing about it, seller's page is still live.

  • I’ve been fucked over in the exact same when when I listed as spares and repairs and the buyer clearly decided they just didn’t want it and I had to pay shipping to return. EBay were totally fucking useless.

I’ve said so many times that I’ll boycott them :(

  • Death threats for what?

  • Yeah the issue is that nothing really seems to sell on platforms that isn’t there now. It’s so double edge

  • I wonder if you could sue the buyer for breach of contract - make an MCOL claim for the return postage costs.

  • I know, it really is annoying as fuck. The last few times I’ve used eBay, there’s always been some type of cunty issue that’s biased in the buyers favour.
But anything that isn’t bike related feels impossible to sell anywhere other than ebay. Facebook market place is like some sort of deliberate wind up populated by bots.

It would be great if the miscellany section on here was some how more populated but nowhere is ever going to have the same sort of footfall as ebay.

EBay’s close to 14% selling fees is another rage I just don’t even have the energy to type out any more about.

  • Ooft that’s wild. Can you see this persons own contact details? The number they left voicemails from and the address that you sent the item back to?

It’s most likely that it’s just some nut job who won’t carry out their threats, but if you have all their details then the police absolutely will(eventually) pay them a visit.
I’d chase it up with the cops each weeks asking them for an update until they give you some more information.
