Made me lol.

The MVP was definitely Alaphilippe being a total nuisance.

The same people who were criticising Philipsen are then cheering Alaphilipe and Declerq for disrupting the chase later. How is one unacceptable whilst the other is fine?

blocking the road is one thing. chasing someone down, putting them in the grass and then moving all the way across the other side of the road to block is another

FYI: If you're using some other app, it's not Watts Occurring podcast it's called The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club

Rider radio. Are we to assume that the bits they allow to be broadcast are only the most anodyne and bland comments and hidden away behind that are some actual tactical suggestions/#insights?
'Go hard to the end'; 'There might be attacks, try to get in the break'; 'Come on guys, you've got this' seem to be mostly sub-armchairDS level input.

Also - WTF is going on here...

ISTR that teams have to approve whatever is broadcast.

Assume it's similar to the radio broadcasts during the F1 - nothing that's going to give away anything juicy, but nice to feel like you're a bit more involved in a way.

That's quite a strong break

We covered this a few weeks ago, but France TV have total access to the race radio of the teams who have signed up and they pick what to play out. Teams don't get approval, but some officials do. In return they get £5000 Sterling, definitely not euros (at Will Melling).
Presumably this is why we get coded messages along the lines of Jumbo's "The crocodile has escaped, repeat the crocodile has escaped, now we need to jump the tiger before the falcon eats all of the maltesers." etc.
I think the main #insight provided by the near-live race radio is it's not actually that interesting.

According to L’Équipe, race radio communications between sports directors and their eight riders will be broadcast during all the stages, but in a delayed format and after monitoring by a specially delegated group of six organisation officials to prevent ‘eavesdropping’ by rival squads on other teams’ plans.
This may explain how anodyne what you hear is.

Mohoric is playing O’Connor and Asgreen like a fiddle.
You should listen to the podcast - Cavendish is funny, clever and insightful. I think for us fans, we are really just looking through a keyhole trying to watch a film. Hearing about it from someone like Cav is a joy.
