Hewitt Alpine Audax/light tourer *SOLD*

  • Hewitt Alpine Audax 55cm/M, 9spd Sora £575 --> £485 SOLD

    These seem to be highly regarded audax/light tourers, tubing is Columbus Life, which is a competition grade tubing (light & strong), semi-compact geo with a gentle slope on the top tube, oversized tubing and beefy ovalised chainstays; the frame allegedly retailed at £1,350. This was a p/ex but has also had a groupset/wheel transplant from another bike so fully rebuilt/checked from ground up, albeit with good used parts.

    • Frame is 55cm square virtual, seat tube is 52cm c2top actual, 17cm headtube.
    • Mudguard and rack mounts/clearances for 28c, or at least 32c without the guards.
    • Carbon fork with alloy 1&1/8" steerer (plenty of spare on top).
    • Groupset is full 9spd Sora with a triple chainset, all in top working order/condition.
    • Shimano long drop brakes, new Tektro shoes/pads.
    • Wheels are Shimano non-series hubs on 32H Alex AT450 rims, some wear showing but plenty of life left.
    • New Schwalbe Durano 28c folding tyres, DD front and Plus rear.
    • SKS mudguards and Topeak Super Tourist rack included.
    • Velo Orange Grand Cru Long Setback 27.2mm Seatpost.
    • Charge Spoon saddle, plenty of others to choose from if not your bag.
    • New Jagwire gear cables, all cables left a bit over length in case new owner wants to fit a longer stem.
    • Current Deda stem is 7cm with One23 O/S bars 43cm c2c, alternatives available.

    It's a lot of bike for £575 --> £485 SOLD

    Collection/viewing from SE1/Waterloo, no shipping on this one.

  • Following an enquiry about possible flat bar conversion for commuting, happy to do that at no extra cost with some generic risers, Tiagra brake levers and Microshift trigger shifters. Rest of groupset and brakes would remain the same. If you prefer a compact double to save a bit of weight I can swap in a Miche Team one in black, 50/34 again no extra cost. Will work fine with either type of shifters.

  • Goes hard, glws

  • Pre-weekend bumper bump: £575 --> £485 for this w/e only.

  • That's a lot of bike for the money. GLWS.

  • Another tenner off to keep this on Page 1, need this gone! 😬

  • Perfect size for me - love those chain stays! No money and not in london 😥GLWS

  • Hey John - can't solve the money woes but could be persuaded to ship (at cost) if no local interest 😉

  • Hi - did I read that you're likely to split this? if so, what are you thinking for the F&F? cheers!

  • I did have an enquiry about the frame/fork as it happens, but unlikely to work out. I will consider splitting but would want around £220 for the frame/fork/headset, and a bit extra if you also wanted the rack and/or mudguards which are all tailored to fit already (obvs). Doesn't seem unreasonable for a £1350+ frame in good nick? Happy to post as well.

  • Also, I would take £130 for the groupset (incl. chain and cassette) and cockpit, would be keeping the wheels tho.

  • agreed, seems perfectly reasonable. I'm trying to work out the geo, but I think all these Hewitts were MtM.. is it a 55 effective TT?

  • I did measure that and to the best of ability appears to be 55 yes - it’s effectively 55 square-ish

  • thanks, have sent you a PM

  • Trying to convince a friend to buy this…
