  • Oh amazing it’s still going!

  • Is the fork mounted correctly? Looks like it should do a 180

  • Oh wow!

This looks very similar to something I'm building at the moment.
    It's well up my street.

  • We're having a bit of a clearout at the workshop and booth so we've been compelled to finish up a lot of our personal projects... this is the fork for a blasphemous build that will pay little to no respect to "Doing NJS properly"... still needs a flat and polish so don't scrutinise it just yet.

  • Bonkers. Good bonkers. Vans grips are a beautiful touch.

  • thank you. the grips look good, but feel harsh.
the canti bosses are facing outward...

  • Parts bin build at the moment. 57mm tyres on but will be having 48-50mm with guards.

  • I think so too! Negative rake..

  • And @Heldring, you convinced me, went for the i29s.
Now to find time to build the wheels..

  • Oooofff looking fwd to that!

  • Ha, just when I decide to give away my silly little 20" shopper rat bike, this one and this one come up and make me rethink everything...

Maybe it's some silly handlebars and a set of bmx wheels away from being worth keeping after all

  • Shoppers 4 lyf
I love mine and is easily my most used bike.

Keep having to resist the temptation to upgrade bits on it, because then it loses its magic power of being able to lock up at stations for days with 0 worries.

  • Very good point, although mine has just been gathering rust and cobwebs for months. I guess there's an art to striking the balance between "just shite enough that no-one nicks it" and "so shite you never want to ride it". Still, I've been inspired enough that if I find some cheap enough wheels I'll probably keep it

  • sorry not sorry.
those bikes should not be as much fun as they are. ok, bottom brackets are stone age pressfit and a pain but this will get solved later..
my lbs advised me to not use v-brakes with steel rims, so it's just there until the alloy rims arrive.

  • The paint job on my free frame has come out a lot more "dairy milk" than anticipated. I'm not feeling it so I've decided to order some blue paint and go for a sweet fade instead. Will hopefully look alright after a bit of sparkle and a clear coat. It's my first time painting a proper bike (I've done a balance bike before) so I'm sure I've massively fucked something up.

  • She wore it better.

  • 2022 Fairdale Taj, first complete bike purchase in decades.
Naturally I proceed to swap the tires, inner tubes, cranks, sprocket, chain, freewheel, seatpost, saddle, handlebars and grips. Rebuilt the rear wheel using same parts, trued the front. Good stupid fun.

Oh, and removed all the stickers (alot of them) except the head tube one and the bike shop identifier.

  • Very cool

  • Fairdales have a really cool design and marketing strategy. Very cool brand..

    Bike looks ace.

  • Thanks both, was looking for a simple frame with room for fat when I remembered that full size bmx exists, I’m not from that world so some of the standards and non-standards were part of a steep learning curve.
