The official bungee straps do a good job of orienting your luggage away from your heels if it's a bulky/unusual size but all things considered, they're still bungees and they're flawed.
+1 vote for voile straps.
I'd never recommend anyone pay the extra for the metal buckles because I've seen them sheer the straps.
I have two of the voile rack-specific straps and they fit the tubing of the Brompton p-line rack perfectly.
