When I used to work at Somerset House, the time it took on the Brommer from Waterloo was only very slightly faster than walking across the bridge or hopping on the bus, but that wasn't the point. This way, you can safely ride your bike to the main station, not the small one near you, not have to lock a bike up, not have to be driven or drive to the station, just take it on the train and then hop off at the other end without having to cram yourself into a metal tube. Even if you don't need one, it definitely is more pleasant. Though that junction outside the Lion King is grim.
And then once you have it, you'll realise how superb it is for doing little food shops and running errands and you'll be like shit why didn't I get one of these before... much like I have now realised after not having one for 8 or so years.
All of this.
Spent years convincing myself Brompton weren’t proper bikes, then got one and wondered why I hadn’t gotten one earlier, complete cycling game changer…
As long as I’m riding bikes one of them will be a Brompton..
It's all very well being cool and brakeless or having loads of bottle cages and a bar bag but... Bromptons are very practical things and I can't imagine not having one now.
