I'm slightly surprised that people are surprised; the two strongest riders in the race, who've been head and shoulders above everyone else, are head and shoulders above everyone in the time trial.
I’m blown away that Wout went for the stage but Jonas put 2:51 (over half an hour) into him.

Also, Mads Pederson's top-10!

Wout’s hat tip was the highlight for me. This tour has had it all.
This aggression, followed by chatty confidence is a side of Vingegaard I’ve not really seen before. Amazing sights.

When wasn't he confident and comfortable? He's been sitting on this TT performance for the whole Tour. No wonder he didn't give a fuck about only have 9s on Pog.

Mas would have put 40s in his lead on Vingegaard today. We were robbed.

If pog wants to win the tour again it seems like he will need to copy vingegaard’s approach. Which is be like froome/sky and direct the entire season toward it. Racing will be poorer for it.

Does anyone have the results with the intermediate splits?
This is the best I’ve found so far

When wasn't he confident and comfortable?
He was being very cagey and giving politician-style non-answers in the press conferences, to the extent that he was pissing the journalists off, in contrast to Pog who's always good value. He seemed a lot happier yesterday, understandably, but I don't think we're going to see a radical transformation in how he deals with the media because Jonas is Jonas.

I don't think that not wanting to talk to the press/anyone = lacking confidence and uncomfortable on the bike.
I've got a lot of time for his introversion.
-
• #46362
I like the fact that he wants to live his life out of the public spotlight. Being good at sport doesn’t mean you have to be a media personality.
-
• #46363
Yeah, that's called Media Training. Most GC riders reveal nothing.

SBS Australia did side by side video comparisons of Pog and Jonas at various points on the course and Jonas was clearly taking more risks on the descent, leaning more in corners, getting on the pedals earlier but I won't link as it contains potentially toxic amounts of Simon Gerrans' whining voice.

If he'd planned to smash it on the ITT (and I think it's pretty clear he did) he would've recce'd the fuck out of it. So what we think is "more risk" actually is "I've spent more time training on this so I know what I can do here".

Great line from Inrng here on Pogacar
his rhythm seemed broken and his upright position for the final section of the course gave him the air of a cycle tourist looking for their hotel in Combloux.
-
• #46367
Yet his time was also amazing and way faster than the rest of the field, until Jonas set off.
-
• #46368
Yeah, that falls flat from Inrng when a struggling cyclo tourist puts 1m13s into WVA and over that into the rest of the peloton bar JV.

Oh of course! Not saying I agreed with it, but I liked the analogy.

Being good at sport doesn’t mean you have to be a media personality.
I'm not saying Jonas doesn't do enough, but if you don't want to be a media personality there are ways of being good at cycling that don't involve taking a lead role in a media circus like the Tour. To some extent I think highly paid professional athletes do need to acknowledge where the money comes from and play the game a little.

Yes, I appreciate it wasn’t coming from you. My bemusement was directed at Inrng. It is a funny analogy, but doesn’t make sense given the performance it’s referring to. If Tadej had shipped time on everyone then it would have been more apt.
Ace. Thank you. It would be interesting to see Roglic v GT/ Almeida at the giro too. Another big margin I expect?
