I really rate bamboo as a natural fibre alternative to synthetics. Not quite as antimicrobial as wool, but a lot lighter and more breathable in my experience, and a damn sight better than synthetics (re. antimicrobial).

Hyvemind.
Looking into building a wheel set with some novatec 4 in one 6 bolt hubs for the bikepacking Kona unit.
I haz Mavic xc 621 rims. They're 22mm internal. Eyeletted, light.
Looking into possibly getting wider rims, for example wtb i29 29mm internal. Not eyeletted. Not as light.
Is de rigeur also in MTB/bikepacking land to go wider or doesn't matter? Will run 2,25", possibly but unlikely 2,35" Mezcals.
What would the forum do?
Thanks!

What's the chain line on an Epic Evo ... 52 or 55mm?
Can't find it in the tech docs.

How much it matters depends on what feelings you want. I have 2.3" tyres on XC823 which is effectively a bit narrower than XC621, and they get a bit too squirmy if you drop the pressure. FWIW, at ~120kg total weight, I'm fine with 2.4bar rear and 1.8bar front, but 2.0/1.5 starts to get a bit too much like riding on a flat for my taste.

Or, to put it slightly more accurately, bamboo is one of the things which can be turned into rayon, and rayon is one of the textiles bamboo can be turned into.

Asked on the car appreciation thread, but thought I'd ask here as well.
Claims management company question.
Has anyone delt with a claims management company?
I witnessed an accident where a builder working on a house in the street reversed off the drive into a learner driver (private car if that is relevant).
From what I witnessed completely the builders fault.
A few weeks later I get a rather pushy call from a claims management company acting on behalf of the learner driver telling me to fill a witness statement they would send me.
I am slightly puzzled as to the involvement of a claims company.
When I queried this with the management company and it became clear it's none of your business wasn't going to cut it as an answer they went on to explain it was so the Lerner avoided losing their no claims bonus and paying the excess on their policy.
I've been involved in two no fault claims and neither involved me paying the excess or losing any no claims bonus.
Probably legit, but wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experience on anything similar?
Thanks

So the equivalent of a "have you ever been involved in an accident that wasn't your fault?" but an insurance version?
Were you offered anything for your time? And the follow up time if the builder's insurance company question your statement?

I'm after a little waist pouch that can hold my phone and a couple of keys while I'm running, since some shorts don't have functional pockets. I know the kind of thing I want, I've seen them around and I think I might even have owned one, but I can't find one to buy. It's mostly a narrow webbing belt with a plastic buckle. And a small maybe 4-6" long pouch/pocket in lycra or thin neoprene which is barely wider than the belt when it doesn't have anything in, and sort of unfolds and stretches out to fit a phone. Zip fastening.
Where does one obtain something like this? I've tried decathlon, runners need and Etsy and all the running belts seem to be huge things that you step into and pull up. I just want a close-fitting pocket for when I don't have pockets.

Basically the AMC will pay the learner’s IC to take on the case, then load the claim with inflated hire car fees (premium cars generously offered to the learner at no charge) and aggressively chase the builders IC for a sum much larger than just the damage.
The learner will be told that if they don’t go with the AMC, they will have to pay the excess and eventually get it back when the builder’s IC pays up.
If the builder has admitted fault and his IC has any sense, they should reach out to the learner and immediately pay whatever it takes to make the AMC go away!

Might have one, if I can locate it, it’s free -

Spibelt, that's the one. Mine has sat in a drawer since phones became stupidly big...

Not exactly the same but I've got one of these which is pretty compact

They do make you a bit warm though as they hold your top down rather than letting a bit of breeze in (same for any of the belts I'd guess). -

Nah, looked at that.

You're Canadian aren't you... over here it's a bum bag. I have a few but they're all bigger, for day to day or cycling, and bounce around too much for running.

Nah, looked at that.
Im interested, what about it didn't you like the look of?
I can comfortably fit phone, wallet, keys snacks and even a small bottle if I wanted to, with no slip or noise from any of the contents.

Zips are a bit jangly tho, and it's got two clips which feels a little unwieldy. Nike do v similar, but the zips/stitching fail super fast on them. Good for phone, keys, not much else.

Oh I know, just thought it might help to find something that works.
